An offensive Cancel that becomes a rediculess cheap counter spell to protect your battle plan and stops effects like exil all attacking creatures. Sounds… Interesting.

  • Dictionary corner

Just to be pedantic, aren’t Attacking and Attacked two different words, is this actually just a main phase 2 counter spell? at rare?

    • Random Guy

No, creatures “attack” when you declare them as attackers not when they deal damage so they have “attacked” after you declare them.

    • Jalais

An anytime after declare attackers step U counter spell!

  • Gord

Good for stopping Settle the Wreckage and all those “at the end of your turn’ things

  • Edward

This is amazing. It is just what Pirates want. You can use it as just cancel or you can use it to protect your attacking creatures for cheap.

  • TezzeretofCarmot21

Wowwww. Good yet bad at the same time.

    • Jalais

Disallow is played, and the ability targets are pretty rare these days. Being able to protect your second main phase plays is powerful.

  • Happy The Cat

Party Crasher is a nice little combo piece with this btw. too bad it won’t be legal anywhere soon…

  • Calvin

I mean you have the option to also play it for 3 Mana like a normal counter spell but if you are relying on the raid trigger then this is just worse than dispel.

    • Fanatic of Mark Rosewater

Dispel can’t counter glad creatures though

      • AHunter

flash creature? No this card is terrible. Well not terrible but not good.

  • Shagoth

I think this has potential to be the best Raid card yet.

  • Blighted Blogger

This could be awesome in decks like Infect where your opponents are always waiting for you to attack and invest a pump spell or two before attempting to kill your attacker. 1 CMC “Counterspell”; yes please!

  • Karamatic

This will be interesting in a rogue deck.

  • Kitnz

The folks who aren’t excited about this don’t understand it’s potential. This can be a 1-mana counter to Settle The Wreckage in standard, then any instant-speed removal like Aetherize or Evacuation in EDH. This card isn’t great in every deck, but will find a home in any aggressive blue deck (such as pirates or merfolk in standard).

    • Santuli

I think it could see some use in those. Merfolk are aggressive but very fragile. While Blossoming Defence and Dive Down can stop most removal, this efficiently stops Settle the Wreckage, or protects your second main plays. Or is still a Canel outside your turn.

  • Murilo Mazza

remember kids: don’t let merfolks be tapped to attack, do something first

  • Shawn Michael Diaz

This is ridiculously narrow in standard… Looks interesting for Infect in modern though.

  • time Warner spectrum

    Good in infect maybe

  • Hedronal

    Rare counterspell really feels rare-worthy.

  • sansmyhands

I don’t hate this, but I hate it at rare.

Keep 1UU open… pay U for the Counterspell
    Spend (2) for anything else…

  • Nharzhool

Why isn’t this Ascend instead of Raid?
