Eternalize 1 ManaWhite ManaWhite Mana

  • ThePonymorph

anyone knowing what’s the new keyword? And if no, any idea? Looking at the price, something that gives indestructible or hexproof (because now it stay on the field forever)

    • ThePonymorph

or something similar to the “re summon from your Graveyard”, but they already did it so…

      • Lorcogoth

If I had to guess more of an artifact then a creature token.

or a spirit instead of zombie, both seem more eternal

        • Caleb Martin

This is Amonkhet. We’re not getting spirits when zombies would work

      • Tezzybros

its a sac ability. eternalize may mean to sac the creature, boom, all of your dudes get +1 +1 and double strike.
        NOICE.

    • Jonathan Reynolds

      Perhaps an indestructible embalm?

      • Tezzybros

or it turns the cat into a god. God tribla may be a thing. Gods vs Horrors

  • Kitnz

But how about that art?!?! I want it. It’s beautiful. And oh my…. KEV WALKER! Gotta have it now.

  • Avery Standley

Mythologize 2W (You may cast this creature for its Mythologize cost. If you do, it enters the battlefield as a colorless Relic artifact.)

Creatures tokens you control get +1/+1

When a Mythologize cost is paid, you don’t get thw creature, but the relic instead which bares all text and activated abilities so the instance of “Creature tokens you control get +1/+1” will still have an effect

  • Sani

    I’m quessing tokenize with indestructible.

  • Edward

Eternalize has to be pretty good to make it worth the cost for a 1/1 with Double Strike at Rare. I would assume it would be Embalm-esque with an added ability or effect

  • Shagoth

This looks kind of bland for a rare mechanically. An evergreen mechanic+new set mechanic seems like it could be incredibly powerful, but it also seems very simple.
Albeit, IDK what eternalize is so I guess not that simple yet.

  • Stef Edge

My guess for Eternalize: Embalm, but the Creature comes back looking more like an evil Mummy. Also with +1/+1 and Indestructible.

    • Kevan Kramer

not going to have +1 counters in this block

      • Daniel Kaine Allen

He said with +1/+1, not with counters, so his idea seems plausible, but I still doubt it.

  • Charles Wilson Hilaman III

I would guess paying it’s eternlize cost instead it could enter with indestructible counter on it

  • James Strawbridge

my bet is that eternalize exiles the creature but gives its effects to all of your creatures in play

  • Bostorket

“Heeere kitty kittyOH GOD SO MANY CLAWS”

  • Han Solo II

Magic the Gathering: Hello Kitty Island Adventure

  • Will

    Lol, looks like he’s hacking-up a hairball :0

  • Eternalize= Become an EMBLEM!!!

  • Somebodyy

eternalize could be sort of like monstrous

  • Mr.Mayhem631

I love this kind of leak!

Eternalize must be a great effect for it to be 3WW and still make a shitty uncommon rare.

    • Thomas Luffman

Don’t go around insulting fencing ace. That card would already be brutal in limited with the cartouches.

  • Deadly Berry

My theories with Eternalize are the following:
(Pay Cost): For the rest of the game, if this creature would leave the battlefield, put it in the (command/emblem/whatever) zone instead of anywhere else. You may cast it from that zone by paying its mana cost.
(Pay Cost): Put this creature onto the battlefield. Activate this ability only if this creature is in your graveyard or in exile. Eternalize only as a sorcery.

From a lore perspective, if Bolas is the one granting “eternity” I wonder how a cat got past the trials.

    • Bige Boiy

the cat got past the trials by being small and good

      • PrissyRose

        a good kitty!

  • Will

Eternalize is going to be nothing more than a graveyard based Bestow.

    • PrissyRose

      thats a good guess tbqh

  • CMK

This appears to be the Game Day top 8 card, and my recollection of those is that they’re usually pretty dece. I won’t speculate on Eternalize.. but look at those multicolor claws! :3

  • Jude

Guessing, if this card isnt utter garbage, that it at least returns this thing from grave/exile. If its a total garbage fire, it exiles itself and makes a clone with indestructible. Aka, useless because bounce is a thing for tokens. However, i like the idea that it instead gains shroud and indestructible and cant be sacrificed or otherwise removed feom the battlefield at all. Its a creature that literally will never leave the battlefield short of restarting the game

    • Friedrich

Doesn’t Toxic Deluge get rid of Shroud, Indestructible and “Can’t be sacrificed”, or Black Sun Zenith?

      • jude

that’s where the “otherwise removed from the battlefield” comes from. in writing i guess it would be

“If this creature would leave the battlefield, instead exile it and return it to the battlefield.” that way if it’s negged to death, sacrificed, bounced, killed, exiled, or tucked it just blinks.

  • Hedronal

A lot of people seem to be guessing Eternalize is indestructible-related, but I feel compelled to say I doubt that, given how having a lot of indestructible would warp a format in a whole new way.

Edit: Ditto that on emblems or anthems.

    • Pandancules

Emblems would be far more problematic for the same reasons you are suggesting indestructible would be.

  • Eirik Sætre Bjoland

    Rave Cat!

  • Happy The Cat

So? Who’s ready for another round of guess what the heck that keyword does! Personally my money is on indestructible Embalm, but who knows! Yet again Wizards picked a completely vague keyword that could quite literally do almost anything! Good thing Core sets are coming back, maybe we can get a set where we dont have to play this game!

    • Robby

I don’t know about you, but I think this game is pretty fun.

    • TogetherAlone

      I’m Thinking Indestructible and hexproof.

    • NC

I mean, this isn’t the official spoiler so why complain?

  • s1lv36

Eternalize: when this creature dies you may pay it’s eternalize cost, if you do exile it and you get an emblem that says “Creatures you control get +1+1 and double strike”

    something like that maybe?

    • Dave

Ooh, nice. But not as a death-trigger, more like embalm. Exile from the graveyard and you get an emblem.

      • s1lv36

the emblem token could probably look like the tattoo around it’s eye too

    • Giby86 .

I was thinking almost exactly the same thing. Don’t know about the emblem though. Maybe another form?

  • Kahai

Guess: It can only be played from hand. And it adds artifact to the new something.

  • xxxx

    Guess: Eternalize
Exile this card from your graveyard: Create a token that’s a copy of it, except it’s an Enchantment in addition to beeing a creature with no mana cost and indestructible. Eternalize only as a sorcery.

  • Michael Nagy

Maybe it means can’t be destroyed or exiled!! A better form of indestructible. Since so many cards exile now it would be awesome to have something new that gets around exile but not overpowered.

  • Игорь Раловец

eternalize could be – just play this card from graveyard, without creating token.

  • Nanya

Eternalize is a better form of regeneration.

    That’s my thoughts.

  • Kilian Viguier

Could be like embalm, but without the exile: you can do it as often as you want ( maybe with a restriction of once per turn )

  • Kasper Haagensen

oki wiz stop it with the cat fetish. this is getting old iknow one of you’r developer is a cat lady “and you like cat’s” but why soooo many cat’s i get it is egypten and so on but why is there cat on Battle for Zendikar,Aether Revol,Theros,
    Planar Chaos,Dissension and so on!
i get you like cat and put them ind magic, but why do you put cat in every were you can “Where that makes no sense”. hey i like space marine but if i was a developer for a card game i will keep them out of my work other wise it is unprofessional… iknow I’m going overboard with this, and will get alot of hate for saying it, but we just a dragon cat … !!! think about it… :)

    • TogetherAlone

Except this makes complete sense, this is egypt. If this was any other plane I would agree with you but this is Amonkhet, they have gods that look like cats for damn sake of course there are going to be many cats in the block.

      • Kasper Haagensen

soo you did not see what i said ? ” i get it is egypten” like cat god’s sure but cat dragon and so on ?

        com on

        • TogetherAlone

Where is the cat dragon? There are no cat dragons.and also its “Egyptian” not egypten. Not sure if trolling lol

          • Kasper Haagensen

Commander 2017 !! you might have seen it and im danish so sry.. if im not a troll you must be for sure …. i was looking at it from the game not just a plane but you might not get that

          • William He

The Cat Dragon you’re referring to was been a lore character in Dominaria and was a character long before any of the sets or products you mentioned. She appeared first in second Legends book series in 2002 as a side character.

And I don’t get what you’re complaining about? There were are 30 cards out of the entire Theros, Shadow over Innistrad, Kaladesh, Battle for Zendikar, Khans of Tarkir blocks and the Amonkhet set COMBINED that have the cat subtype. That’s 30 out of 2890 cards, or 0.346020761% of all standard legal cards in the last three years. Out of Magic’s entire history there are 150 cats out of more than 16000 cards. So, no there really isn’t that many cats.

          • eltratzo

Ui, somebody has stats. I like stats.

          • Kasper Haagensen

oki fair i can see i was worng on the dregon cat i will give you that one.. and true that are not that many cat’s
compare to every card in the game! but let me ask you this how many “bird ” or other small tribal in mtg that might get some love?

          • Raven Knight Vincent

Bird is a mighty bad example, considering there are 219 birds vs 150 cats, and is also one of the tribe in Onslaught block.

          • Kasper Haagensen

true but onslaught was along time ago so the point still stand …. it is just a wast to make random creature types or add on to card’s with no need

          • Shawn Michael Diaz

There are actually more birds in Amonkhet than cats. Same if you throw all of the Standard legal cards together.

          • eltratzo

“egypten” combined with his name makes me think of a non native english speaker (“egypt” is “Ägypten” in german for example. with the “Ä” being spoken exactly like the egypt “e” in this case. and judging from google “egypten” might be swedish for egypt).

    • PumpyStumpy

Yeah, I hate cats! I’m allergic to them! We need more dogs instead!

      • eltratzo

we currently have 66 hounds, 15 jackals and an uncounted number of vaguely canine beasts to 150 cats(most feline beast actually seem to be cat beasts). so there isnt even that much of a disparity.

    • NC

Get your catphobia out of here

      • Kasper Haagensen

        Ailurophobia
Ailurophobia is a type of specific phobia: the persistent, irrational fear of cats. So no i dont have Ailurophobia, i just dont like getting my game Overflowing with cute animal if i did i will go play pokemon or yugioh “not that there are bad game’s” it just silly

        • NC

          BRING BACK SQUIRRELS

    • Shawn Michael Diaz

Why are humans, insects, dragons, angels on every plane? Players like them. Just because you don’t doesn’t mean most don’t

      • Kasper Haagensen

is this the only thing you can do ? To throw hatred around like a kid, i never Said i hate cat and iknow everyone on the Internet ego is bigger then normally but com on boy! There is nothing wrong with liking anything by it art or just the type or what ever you like… But to abuse it is wasted! let me show what good use of good design is and bad .. fleecemane lion aka “the nemian lion ” make since and it is in tune with the lore of the plane it fits! felidar sovereign ?? look’s cool but the type is just random and stupid !

        • Shawn Michael Diaz

I didn’t say you hated anything, just that you didn’t care for cats. But, to be critical of cats when every plane gets dragons, humans, insects, angels, etc. is silly. They make cards with certain creature types because they know people will like them. They don’t all mesh super well with the plane/world. Cats likely tested well when they were developing Kaladesh and player reception has been great. Amonkhet has an actual cat theme because Egypt and I would not be surprised to see Cats it cat hybrids become a 1-2 of in each set over beasts when appropriate. All because people like cats. Just like people like Angels/dragons, so they were shoehorned into Amonkhet.

    • Shagoth

      “Cat fetish”
I’m done reading this, too much dumbness.

      • Kasper Haagensen

then why are you dooing it ! XD

        • Shagoth

That was rude on my part, but I did genuinely stop reading after seeing that part.

  • TogetherAlone

My Guess for eternalize is basically the creature becoming a Fleecemane lion. Getting Hexproof and Indestructible. It makes sense mechanically and thematically.

  • guy

Eternalize: take this card and give your opponent the worst paper cut of their life. You are eternal for as long as that person remembers your beatdown. that’s my educated guess.

  • Harrison Tucker

Would be good except how do you get rid of a card that’s hexproof and indestructible? Ya don’t. I’m sure there’s a way but I’m standard that’d prob never happen.

    • MTG fan

Yaheeni’s expertise is all I can think of for killing a hexproof and indestructible.

      • Nikolai Anzuoni

Flaying tendrils also works. Archfiend of Ifnir. The red one drop that turns noncombat damage into counters plus any aoe burn.

  • Harrison Tucker

    In*

  • Harrison Tucker

I guess u have to b able to pay it tho… but we’ll see fleecemane is a good example except it was a one off I beleive.., monstrous r watever had multiple outcomes I mean eternalize could have multiple effects as well but I think this will be more like embalm where it always will mean the same thing… n if that was hexproof and indestructible that’d b a lot to have to deal with, although I agree the theme and stuff points towards a similar style of effects.

    • Tezzybros

bruh, its totally a sac ability that gives all of your creatures that card’s stats, +1+1 double strike to everyone

      • Harrison Tucker

Legit I like that… that seems more viable lol

      • Crinfarr !!

So… it’s sacrifice instead of discard for bloodrush abilities?

  • Aarhg

Is this the first time a non-planeswalker, non-un-card has art that goes outside the frame? That’s neat.

    • scatlauncher .

It isn’t. They’ve done this for a while, most recently with Trophy Mage from Kaladesh

      • Aarhg

I don’t see anything on the Kaladesh Treasure Mage promo. Are you sure you’re not just thinking of the promo frame? Because I’m talking about the Adorned Pouncer’s paw reaching out of the art and onto the type line.

  • Probably Right

My guess is a untargetable single creature buff, Something like an enchantment without the type. I.e you can bounce or kill the creature but otherwise you can’t destroy it. It could also work with activated abilitys on creatures

  • davee

I’ll be so mad if eternalize is scorery speed

    • Stef

Why? You don’t know what it does?

  • Pandancules

Eternalize won’t be an emblem, that would be a terrible idea for flavor and balance.

  • Happy The Cat

yo, but that cat’s nail game on fleek tho

  • Noinim

Eternalize: Exile this card from your graveyard: Create a token that’s a copy of it, except it’s a black Zombie in addition to its other types with no mana cost. It has base power/toughness 4. Embalm only as a sorcery.)

    • ChaosEngineer

Lol “Embalm” so can we Eternalize whenever and the ability is just gloating?

  • Jared Fruitman

Eternalize: Put X +1/+1 counters on this creature where X is its power. This creature gains indestructible.

  • TheAweDude

Eternalize brings the card back, but it is a 4/4. Hopefully they print a creature that’s larger than a 4/4, but with a discounted Eternalize cost.

  • Harrison Tucker

Wow okay okay, they indeed did go back to the graveyard makes sense I can do this
