• Happy The Cat

only if you were instant speed…

    • Vectis

then it could actually be a really good EDH card :(

    • Blahblahblahbla

Right! This would be a monster card at instant.

    • James Harris

Why? O-ring isnt instant speed. This is just a variation of the same card. Instead of potentially giving your opponent their stuff back, you have to give something of your choice. Card is great as is and I look forward to seeing what death-triggers will be good with it.

  • Ultramegalord

At first I thought meh, but then I remembered the clues ;p

  • zDRIBAS

wow this set is very powerfull … after the fail zendikar was this one is great!

    • Kotadis

Oath was great what are u talking about? you know how many cards of oath of gatewatch are used in modern right now? Eldrazi is rampant all over MODERN, its been a while that a standard set was able to do that.

      • mehngo

To be fair, the only reason Eldrazi’s are running rampant is because of two cards that had already been printed several years beforehand… Eldrazi Temple and Eye of Ugin… Sure there are pretty nice eldrazis in Oath, but they aren’t the sole reason it broke modern.

    • James Harris

I find this set to be on par with BFZ. There is a lot of junk in the set, and hardly anything you want as a 4-of. BFZ has some really really good EDH cards, but no good commons like this. Oath is my favorite set in 15 years of playing.

  • TogetherAlone

my god, i hope i never get this in a draft.

    • Melissa Juice

This could be amazing in draft. All you need is a clue or two.

      • Mr.Mayhem631

I guess he thought it was bad because…
        he had no clue!
        badumtshh

        • Melissa Juice

          hehe

    • Chaospyke

Why? this is an amazing common. Probably won’t see standard play, but for 3 mana, I can exile your major threat.
There are plenty of tokens in the set as well, plus if you’re drafting its super likely you will get an excess of land at some point, so sacing is going to be as painful as you think.

      • Cullen Straut

could see play in standard, you have clues and that land that can pop out of the graveyard, that could easily be worth sacing.

    • Mr.Mayhem631

Cool, pass it to me :D
Seriously, though, pseudo-vindicate in mono white is insane in draft.

  • MTGFanatic

    wow for pauper

  • Ryū

    Impressive, most impressive.

  • That Guy

I like the card and it’s really good in limited but I was hoping that art was going to be used for an actual angel.

    • fullbuster

I hoped it was Gisella’s new look (would have loved that)… but after this and the new mythic angel I’m afraid we will see new Gisella and new Bruna in Elditch Moon (if ever)

      • That Guy

I too hoped for it to be one of them but I would have been satisfied with just a good angel.

  • Dramon

I am amazed that no one else seemed to notice how epic this is with Avacyn. Play her in, play this to sac a creature and exile a threat, transform avacyn dealing that 3 damage!

Guys, seriously? No one else commented this, even though thus card is directly related to bad-guy angels????

    • George

The 3 damage doesn’t trigger until after your turn, plus it would require 8 mana! Very nice cards and synergy still, though!

      • Dramon

Or you could use Avacyn opponent’s turn and this your next turn, which fixes the mana problem.

        • Hedronal

At that point, you can just use anything with this.

      • kmk888

        >saccing a creature with Avacyn
        >”combo”

  • A Simple Moose Token

I think this is an acceptable addition to my Ghave EDH.

  • MrAptronym

I am sad that this art wasn’t for a legendary creature :<

    • Vincezco Ferrari Hdez

      Yeah, I’m with thou. I thought I would be something legendary…. :/

    • Fael

Oh… i was sure that this art would be the orzhov legendary angel mentioned in the story. But, hey… it’s a nice common card.

      • EJ

Holy mackerel! That’s a common? Pauper gold, baby.

Plays well with Clue tokens, temporary tokens, and things that want to go to the graveyard.

  • Christopher Lacey

Perfect combo piece for that new shitty red mythic… GoldFAIL Castigator… also, why isn’t this removal spell like W? You already have to sac a permanent… wtf? 2W?

    • MithosFall

You don’t know about card balance, do you?

      • Christopher Lacey

?? That’s pretty funny since I’ve been playing since ~1995 LOL… Idk, push it up to an uncommon slot then.. who cares about pauper Zzzz.. It also has a nice scope of targets, but doesn’t hit planeswalkers or lands nor is it instant speed.. I think the mana cost is a bit much.. at least drop it to like 1W.. but why not make it W and make it uncommon.. would be a nice, unique card..

        • MithosFall

This card was probably made to fill a few holes in the set. They needed another white card, another common, and a removal card. So bumping this up to uncommon wouldn’t really be a possibility.

As far as the actual power of the card, let’s compare it to a similar card: Bone Splinters. Bone Splinters is more restrictive, as it requires you to sacrifice a creature rather than anything you control. It also only targets creatures, and can only destroy them instead of exile. Being more flexible cost-wise, being able to target more things that could be a problem, and effectively getting rid of them forever (on top of preventing that card from working for Delirium, AND the target not being able to come back like with Banishing Light), I think, makes this common justify being costed at 2W.

At W, it would run rampant in Legacy and Modern. People would gladly give up a land or cheap creature to get rid of any problem permanent, aside from ‘walkers. And 1W is still too powerful for an indiscriminate common exile spell.

Also, I don’t care how long you’ve been playing Magic, that doesn’t ensure that you have ANY idea about game balance.

        • Hedronal

One mana should not exile things in standard. Two mana needs a high additional cost or detriment to have exile things in standard. When something exiles permanents of three types including creatures, adding more is just greedy.

        • Mr.Mayhem631

          “I know best, ya whippersnappers.”
          “LOL”

  • John Bone

This would be pretty nice alongside a Hatching Plans.

  • leaffie

this with demonic pact is a yes

  • kk

Another way to get rid of your Demonic Pack.

    • Happy The Cat

      twice, if necessary

  • Certified Hussla

Looking at this reminds me of what Wizards use to do with removal. Commons and uncommons that are just good. This one isn’t super hot to me but it could be used in different formats. And even might be in Standard. Particularly for budetish players.

  • Kevin Johnstone

This definitely should have been instant. Ew. Garbo.

    • Kevin Johnstone

The best use of this card… Demonic pact in BW or Esper. Thats about it.

  • Gregorio Stevenson

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls confirmed.

  • kmk888

Common! The card disadvantage isn’t going to be a big deal with removal this flexible and cheap, especially late game with lands or if you use a creature or clue token. Plus it enables delirium surprisingly well for white
