  • Xero

Yeah, I know it’s easy to get rid of, but that’s still pretty sweet. Good in aggro decks with some good utility as well; at a cheap cost. I like it. More, in fact, than the Bident.

    umezawa jitte wanna be?

    • CodyGozRawr

    • Brandon Sauer

      Except it isn’t?

    • risu

this is cool, but its nowhere on the same level as jitte, you can stockpile the activations for this for when you want to do it big, but its still awesome

    • lonewolf

exactly my thoughts, yea I know it is nowhere close to it and has G in cost but still playing with counters and many options was thing that made jitte so awesome, which certainly gonna make this one popular too

  • CodyGozRawr

Omg this is epic, yeah sure like xero said it’s easy to get rid of, but it’s still pretty epic.

  • WrathsForFun

Love me some options and this card has the “save my awesome reanimation targets” my 4 color re animator EDH has been looking for …yup gana run it 100%

As far as standard? it dies to removal (OMG RALLY?) but i feel the multiple options MIGHT make it fringe worthy like trading post. and constant deathtouch is actually really nice.

    • risu

ok i have to ask, how do you have a 4-color EDH deck?

      • Orion Moore

Everybody at the local shop plays 5-color just depends on your generals colors.

        • MTGSigil

He could have Progenitus EDH and just play 4 colors.

          • Orion Moore

      • Fbn Dnl Schlr

Some shops have a houserule to allow the Nephilims.

    • Orion Moore

You mean removal is a thing? I didn’t know that… The more you know, lol

  • Brandon Sauer

Because this is modular, I really hope the Bident of Thassa currently around is fake; otherwise this is incredibly unfair. And yes, I know about the stupid poster it was supposedly on; but until I see the actual poster, or its officially confirmed, I’m hoping it was photoshopped.

    • Orion Moore

The bident I saw made all of your opponents creatures attack like goblin diplomat or draw a card when your creatures do combat dmg so the death touch to attacking creatures won’t matter. I’m not sure what your trying to say exactly.

      • Brandon Sauer

Thassa’s Stick has a single activated ability, whereas this has four. The Fork is also more expensive. It just seems unbalanced to me. Worse, unbalanced with no reason to explain it.

I love the card advantage the Prong gives us, but its other ability is something I can’t see being used very often.

        • Martin Kaca

Attack with all your stuff so I can swings with all my guys and draw tons of cards. Seems good. Plus Scry 1 each turn is better then deathtouch.

          • Brandon Sauer

Sure, you might do that…. once; its suicide against any competitive aggro deck. And Scry is Thassa’s ability, not her weapons. >_>

  • Fbn Dnl Schlr

Great for any Stonebrow deck. Trample & Deathtouch really works well together.

  • Berdo18

Mono green stompy aggro decks in standard, anyone? “Go ahead! Block! See what happens!”
Add in some Experiment Ones, Scavenging Oozes, Wasteland Vipers, Wicthstalkers, Deadbridge Goliaths and some green devotion(crosses fingers) to a deck with this and standard may have a new force to recon with.

  • welan

Maybe it s no gite…but Gite is mighty rare level. This is rare come on you guys if this turn out to be a dollar rare…who wouldn t buy this? It s slightly over power for the cost but easy to destroy and you can only have limit amount of them on the board. It s seamed it will be an amazaing set with amazing card but with draw back. And it will make the game fun

    • welan

      jitte* sorry

  • Zombie

    This is… really good…

  • Hopeful

This plus thorncaster sliver or similar affect might be a thing.

    • Zombie

Don’t know, it’s definitely too slow of a gameplan to work in Standard as a primary goal, considering Standard as a format right now. It might work as just some potential avenue for the Slivers deck to take against Midrange and Ramp as fatty control in the sideboard, though.

It’d basically be an extremely slow version of Peddle to the Metal. The reason Peddle worked so well was because your instant- kill combo was online by turn 3. The Sliver version requires a big fat 5 drop Sliver that could annihilate your curve if you brick on it and a Legendary Artifact that’s easily destroyed.

There’s potential, but Standard will have to slow waaaaaaaaay down for it to be competitive.

The bow seems like it would have more potential in a low curve aggro Sliver deck, where you’re already wanting to force trades with your opponent’s creatures anyway. Now with the Bow, those trades are guaranteed if they’re forced to block, whether by ability or circumstance.

Ignore the Thorncaster Sliver and try Striking Sliver instead. Yeah, you lose the damage swing potential of Thorncaster, but giving all of your Slivers First Strike, and Deathtouch when they attack, pretty much ensures you come out ahead on every single combat phase while both are in play, and the combo can be online by turn 3, rather than 5+.

      • LeonFA

I certainly agree with you, but keep in mind that Manaweft plus any one drop sliver makes Thorncaster a turn 3, then you drop this down after it. The ability to pull that out consistently isn’t great though. Striking and Bonescythe Sliver should be enough to push this though.

        • Zombie

The problem with banking on Manaweft ramp in Slivers is you’re starting to focus on either ramping or building a board- state rather than attacking on key early turns. Don’t get me wrong, the new Gemhide Sliver is decent, but it’s not going to win you many games.

Slivers win games by stacking their strong, aggressive abilities and attacking, not sitting around pooping out mana.

If you play aggressive Slivers instead (Striking, Predatory, Blur, etc.), you don’t have to worry about whether or not you should tap your Slivers for more Slivers or a big Sliver, and then consequently not attack that turn.

You tap your lands, play Slivers, and attack for value, putting pressure on your opponent and winning the game even faster with a low curve that’s hard to keep pace with.

      • CodyGozRawr

Start with striking sliver plus this, then if you get throncaster sliver out it’s GG.
        Turn 1 mountain striking sliver
        turn 2 forest predatory sliver
turn 3 forest bow of nylea, attack with first strike deathtouches.
turn 4 any land + whatever the hell you want, would be good to either play blur sliver, or hive stirrings if you played a plains
turn 5 land, thorncaster, attack with at least 3 slivers, instantly kill 3 of their blockers, and hit them for damage, most likely kill them, if not this turn, then next turn for sure.

  • David Fitzsimmons

Hmmm… Darksteel Forge is in this Standard format with these God Weapon cards… Shockingly it has been dropping in price too since it was reprinted too. Better grab myself a playset while it is still around 2 bucks a piece. Who knows if the price will jump up if any of these Artifact Enchantments become tournament staples.

    • Jeremysclone

Except that Darksteel Forge has a cmc of 9, making it unplayable in standard….

      • Ben Ehren

they are trying to make high cost things more playable in this set, but unfortunatly it looks like they might fail that with this weapon

        • David Fitzsimmons

Remember this thing is powerful for it’s cost because of it’s vulnerability to destruction.

      • David Fitzsimmons

Maybe so, but you never know what may happen. It’s an obvious synergy so I want to capitalize on it while prices are low as they are. I wouldn’t be trying anything standard with the combo though, but it would definitely make for a great EDH artifact deck.

      • Shadowspawn

In Green…the color known for mana ramp?? Yeah, about that…9 mana is easy to accumulate in a few turns.

  • LeonFA

Even without using the weapon’s actual name, this weapon has an insane amount of flavor due to the art and the tap abilities. There are four arrows, one for each season, and the abilities go ONE +1/+1 counter, TWO damage to target creature with flying, gain THREE life, and put FOUR target cards from your graveyard on the bottom of your library. You can even say that each season arrow is associated with each one of these effects. Perhaps the winter arrow causes cards to “Hibernate”, or the fall arrow is the one that shoots out flying creatures and causes them to fall to the ground? I think this card is really bursting with flavor.

And on a competitive level, Thorncaster Sliver just received the one boost it needed to be a thing since M14 didn’t have a deathtouch sliver.

    • David Fitzsimmons

indeed, compared to the Bident of Thasa this card by far is superior when it comes to being mechanically flavorful. So much thought put into it that it would be a real shame if this thing under performs competitively. in Limited this thing will be the ONE CARD I will be begging to open, the chance to give all my creatures deathtouch on attacks is such a lovely thing. Here is hoping limited will have minimal artifact or enchantment destruction… fat chance of that though, :P

the fact it is so vulnerable is the only reason i see it being allowed to be this powerful.

  • Joshua McTiernan

Anyone else see Evin Erwin’s tweet on the flavor of this thing? It is so sweet! Everyone should check it out.

  • Welan

I strongly expect Nylea wish is according to the story the godess of the hunt to create beast tokens. Especialy since that on the next set there will probably be the goddess of agriculture who I bet will be more focus on mana ramp.

  • MtgMind-Welder98

    Hmmm…seems decent

  • Enchantmenty

Theros themed deck in modern wouldn’t last because of all the enchantment removal. Hell, even when innistrad rolls out of standard there’s still Naturalize, Golgari Charm, Sundering Growth, Wear/Tear and freaking Erase for crying out loud.

  • ChaosTheMonster

can you say umezawa’s jitte#2 XD
