  • Ryū

    Yes. That is all.

  • Ben

Depressed yet happy, was hoping for a stronger gisella/bruna cards but still going in kaalia

  • BusinessmanGinger

Yay I wanna see what the originals look like for the meld mechanic cause I might have a new commander in the wings :)

    • MrAptronym

I’d suggest Bruna as the commander and Gisela in the 99.

  • xSiNx SHADOW

i’m guessing these are gonna be like tokens and not take up the actual rare slot…

    • Jazzyboy1

This is split in two halves, each of which are on the backs of Bruna or Gisela.

  • Guest

    Dies to doom blade… NOT!

Now that I think of it… she dodges every efficient spot removal. Nice!

    • Nharzhool

Guess I have to build a deck around spot-Phthisis…Look what you’ve done to me!

    • Dave

And she needs to cause she doesn’t have Haste like other meld creatures.

  • Corey Reks Anderson

ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THE SEE HEAR SPEAK NO EVIL THEME?

    • Melissa Juice

      Your caps are stuck.

      • Bige Boiy

caps lock is cruise control for cool

        • Brian Schmidt

And you ain’t cool until you pee your pants…or in this case use all caps.

  • Bige Boiy

i love how well this is designed to be your commander. when you play bruna from command zone you revive gisela, and even without the fusion bruna is a great commander for angels.

    • Eduardo

Well, idk if it’ll be ALL that good, since you’ll exile Gisela after the first transformation… Not sure how it’d work if Brisela dies afterwards… Bruna would go back to the commander zone, but wat about Gisela? If she won’t go to the graveyard, Bruna’ll be a pretty expensive card to play again for 9 manas…

      • Bastion8889

Brisela is actually both cards so if an effect destroys brisela it sends both cards back to the graveyard in regular creature form. Look at the seam on brisela in the bottom of the art. You could then choose to put Bruna back in the command zone and Gisela would go to your graveyard ready for the next cast. Also because the brisela card is half your commander it should still count for commander damage. 9 mana is a lot to recast her. Bring lots of artifact ramp.

        • Eduardo

That is a cool insight, I didn’t tought about it. Not sure Brisela can deal commander damage, though… It seems to be a discussion on the internet right now…The only problem remaining is that you can only get the cool merge combo once you have actually found Gisela, and since she’s one of the 99 cards on a deck with no way to tutor for a specific creature (I may be wrong about this one, but I believe mono-white can’t do it), Bruna can, once more, be a very expensive commander for it’s effect if there’s no fusion involved.

      • Bige Boiy

The article stated that both cards go to the same zone, but I’m almost 100% sure Gisela can’t go to command zone. I think Gisela goes to ‘yard and you choose whether Bruna goes to zone or graveyard.

  • Melissa Juice

Thank you, Mama Emmy. You da bess.

  • BalthasarH.

So this and Gaddock Teeg prevent your opponents from playing any non-creature spells.

    • Chaospyke

I mean you could also just ult Narset.

    • Alice Louise Moore

Heck, it could prevent players from using almost everything.

  • Dr. Burn Crow

    Oh gods no.

  • Chair-sama

Never has a card been that worthy of its name.

  • Falconfly

Very hot and sexy. Gamer Gaters and Sad Puppies are probably mad that a women character looks ugly and not composed of giant legs and will call this “femnazi censorship”

    • Nanya

And what reason do you have to bring up Sad Puppies and #GamerGate?

Seriously, gamedropping where it’s not needed is what keeps GamerGate alive. Or haven’t you figured that out yet?

    • Daniel Kaine Allen

I identify as a trigender vaping german attack helicopter and I find your post offensive.

    • Mr.Mayhem631

You don’t actually know what Gamergate is, do you?

  • Phoenix UNBENCHED

Finally, an angel that I can approve.
    #gotthere

  • Steak Sauce

Fluff/art/flavorwise, this is much much more horrifying than another boring Walking Dead themed set would’ve been. FOAD Eldrazi naysayers!

  • Jacob Kodicovic

I feel bad for Sigarda. First, Avacyn kills one of her sisters. Then, her remaining 2 sisters turn into an insane giant eldrazi angel.

On the plus side, family reunions would be interesting

  • Garrison Tran

is it good or bad that avacyn died before all the melding took effect? what would avacyn have melded with?

    • Brian Schmidt

      Emrakul!!

    • pbtenchi

I think this is happening BECAUSE she died. She was like a magical defense system as well as a slaying machine, think an aura preventing opponents playing Eldrazi.

    • Daniel Kaine Allen

Yeah the whole event is taking place because avacyn is dead. Abd she wouldn’t have likely melded anyway. Sigarda hasn’t.

  • Julna Buras

I’m a bit confused on how meld works. Which one is the DFC with this on the back? Or do they both have this on their other side?

    • Nolly

They both have half this card’s images on the back. Think B.F.M. from unglued.

      • Julna Buras

Just checked WoTC video explaining meld; each card has the top or bottom half of the melded form; you put them sideways on top of each other. Cool. I just thought you meant they both had the same card on the back. This is a lot more interesting.

    • Jing Tu

I think this is on the back of Gisela given Gisela is a mythic rare, Bruna is a rare and Brisela’s mythic rare symbol. Also, Gisela is the one that has the ability to trigger the meld.

  • Blahblahblahbla

OMG you guys! What if Brisela and Ob Nixilis fall in love and have babies?! Awwwww!

    • Chaospyke

Where do you buy your Durgs? cuz I need some of what you’re having

      • Dr. Burn Crow

        Don’t do durgs, kids.

  • Bostorket

“You got eldrazi in my angels!”

“No, you got angels in my eldrazi!”

    • Bostorket

      Also: Tentacle Hentai, full circle.

      • Dr. Burn Crow

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Don’t make these jokes! THEY WILL
        BAN YOU!

  • Brian Schmidt

As Weasel says in Deadpool. My God it is just haunting, this is the stuff of nightmares and it will die alone.

  • Matt86

This reminds me of both Artemisia (FF VIII) and the lower half of Anima (Which is funny because it’s actually the backside of the cards. Also, FFX)

  • ye

Uh, what happens if this is bounced? I know both angels are already exiled, but is Brisela just destroyed?

    • Dr. Burn Crow

No, the components return to your hand as seperate cards.

      • ye

Cool. I hate it when bounce effects cripple a card, seeing as I play +1/+1 counter decks.

    • Happy The Cat

both cards are kept in the same place while melded, just treat them like a werewolf.

  • Nanya

So, I get that these “meld” cards are flip cards… Right?

So, they remove and flip over and stack on top of each other?

I’m not sure how it works.

    • Happy The Cat

exile, returned flipped and on top of each other to show there are two cards melded

      • Nanya

Ah, so like Nissa, Jace, Chandra, Liliana and Kytheon from Origins then.

        • Happy The Cat

kind of, but they exile together and are treated as one while on the battlefield.

          • BalthasarH.

What happens if I bounce Brisela? Do both cards go bach to my hand?

          • BalthasarH.

Maybe I should read the other comments before I post next time ^^

          • Happy The Cat

yes, they will be moved together as if they are one creature, as long as they are not on the battlefield they will be considered two separate cards in any zone. also if one of them is your commander they will be split up.

        • Harry Palm

The picture is on both cards. One half on each card. It’s like the BFM. You can see in that picture that it’s two cards if you look closely.

          • Nanya

            Huh, didn’t know that, thanks.

    • pbtenchi

They don’t actually go on top of each other, Wizards released a video on YouTube that shows it.

      • Nanya

I didn’t see it, may I ask for a link, good person?

        • Hedronal

This comment section doesn’t play well with those. The main Mtg site has it in the mechanics article, though.

  • Happy The Cat

after newmrakul I was worried that her eldrazi were going to be about lowering their costs for a large creature that has a couple perks that would have been shite at full cost. glad to be wrong.
that’s a seven mana 9/10 people and it’s got as many perks as a Google employee, oh also it has a ban list that covers about 90% of spot removal, so have fun with the best eldrazi in the set!

    • Blahblahblahbla

Only playable in standard though. :( Not worth the investment in EDH, unplayable in Modern or Legacy and close enough to impossible to assemble in Limited that it might a well not be an option.

Bummer for those of us that don’t play standard.

      • Happy The Cat

not worth it in EDH? you must be high or something, it’s two white legendary angels that are good, then it turns into a free win con if you get both, pretty sure some kaalia decks are making new slots, especially for Bruna and that revive. not to mention that there will be decks for both of them.

        • Bige Boiy

Bruna triggers on cast, so Kaalia can’t get her benefit by cheating her in. Only the devoted get the greatest benefits :). I already have a mostly complete Bruna list that I plan on building day 1 release.

          • Hedronal

Bruna also brings back much of Kaalia’s good stuff, while being a large, vigilant flier.

  • Dave

    No Haste. :/
But it has some pretty heavy protection, yay. :)

    • mehngo

Why would it matter? It transforms at your end step, making haste extremely irrelevant. *facepalm*

      • Dave

The other meld-creatures can attack immediately so I just overlooked it here. No need to be rude about it.

        • mehngo

Why did you assume I was being rude?

          • Hedronal

            Probably “*facepalm*”.

  • Sheebson

As if getting a foil mythic wasn’t hard enough already… Now you have to hunt down the foil rare that completes the image! That’s IMPOSSIBLE!

Oh wait, nevermind, it’s not THAT hard.

  • Nolly

Getting one of these in a game of limited is going to happen once in a blue moon unless both cards show up as a pair in the same pack, which I doubt.

  • chad

It’s gonna be rough to transform to this beasty, amazing card, but its gonna be tough.

  • Stinker289

I LOVE this card. It would be a pain to get her out but it would be amazing once she was out.

  • 785369412

It’s two cards… I’ve just realised it’s the back of the two meld cards, put next to each other. It’s just one big card made up of two…

    I wonder who got bottom.

    • Dave

Bruna got bottom, Gisela got top.

  • Dr. Burn Crow

    Our Lady of Monster Mash.

  • Jacob Kodicovic

Eldritch Moon thoughts – What if Emrakul doesn’t know her brothers are dead, and is on Innistrad to create dates for them and herself? I mean, Brisela looks like a female Ulamog (kinda) and I’m pretty sure Kozilek and Marit Lage have already hit it off, so that leaves Emrakul, and one Eldrazi – Hanwier. They both like corruption and have spawn, and because Emrakul corrupted, not spawned, the town, it wouldn’t be awkward.

    • Happy The Cat

inb4 eldrazi dating sim comes out of japan

      • kasigah

        Hatoful Cthulhu

        • Happy The Cat

now I just want to accidentally run into kawaii ulamog who is eating toast when we are both late for school. thanks.

    • Phoenix UNBENCHED

      Hmm.. Kozi-Lage…
I do see the Marit in that.

  • Happy The Cat

one thing I want to know is how will these split cards work when I cheat? xenograft in moonmist will flip any creature in the game with a backside but what will it do to something like this?

    • kasigah

They don’t transform, but rather they meld, so I’d assume it does nothing.

      • Jeff Bellum

you are correct, they do NOT transform

  • Marky Day

So many questions that I’m sure Wizards will answer soon. Do the exiled cards leave the battlefield, and the melded creature enter? Or is it more of an transform thing without changing states of play? What happens when Brisela dies? Does it got to the graveyard as the melded Brisela, or does it break up into Bruna and Gisela again, and then go to the graveyard? Or are they exiled forever?

    • Dominic Ng

go check the EMN mechanic page, it answers every question u ask

  • larryand corn

    brisela, REALLY…

    • Chaospyke

      Would you perhaps prefer Gisuna?

    • Did you read the magic story for this card? It’s even more cringey writing, but still this card is awesome.

      • Daniel Kaine Allen

Where do we find the magic story for this card?

  • kmk888

If you have questions about how the mechanic works, read the “Mechanics of Eldritch Moon” article guys, come on now.

  • Chaospyke

I wonder if Meld mechanic is gonna force people to sideboard Hallowed Moonlight now?

Also its interesting that an card from a different set has such a flavored relation to the cards in this set.

  • Rudadaz

I will never look at the powerpuff girls the same,

  • I violently need this card

  • Deadly Berry

Aside from the awkwardness of melding the angels required to have this (because it’s 11 total mana), by the time you can do so I doubt spells with cost 3 or less make that much of a difference, except to prevent your opponent from using single target removal for this. If the effect had been 3 or more it could be somewhat decent. If you’re willing to use this, regardless of the format, wouldn’t you be better off using Emrakul instead? Much better P/T, abilities and less cost too; not to mention no annoying “halves”. Do not want this.

    • nightshade88

It will generally only cost you 7 since you most likely already played Gisela and she got killed by a removal.
You cast Bruna to revive her and pray to end the turn with both of them alive.

      • Deadly Berry

That’s the right way to do it, but then again, it’s a lot of trouble making her work, considering Bruna is hideous and her only job is to reanimate Gisela to do the melding, if for any reason you miss Gisela would you cast Bruna anyway to reanimate something else? You’d need more Giselas than Brunas in your deck, and she’s a Legendary, risking dead draws. Attempting to use this will give you lots of dead cards in your hand. Just go Emrakul.

      • ConDucktor Whirl Crate God

It’s only going to cost me 4 mana once they find their way into my Grand Arbiter Augustin Commander :D

    • Silver

Well, in standar she’s practically unkillale because the 3 or less clause. 3 or more would have left her vulnerable to removal (like ultimate price), as she’s now, only wraths get her, and she’s an unraceable crazy trump card, thats incidentally stapled on two very very viable cards. Playing3~4 gisela wouldnt be strange at all, and at that point a singleton bruna gives you this monstruosity for free

    • Nanya

      No overloaded Cyclonic Rift! YAY!

  • just realised these cards will literally be cut in half making one large image. dont know if i like that. Was looking forward to a large foil.

    • Zeph

You can still have your large foil. You can even have a one half foil, other half non-foil xD

    • xEro

me too. they should have printed a separate card for collectible purposes.

      • DJ Pad

You can always make your own proxy (like a reverse flip card)

    • Nebulium

I could be really wrong, but one half in foil may look cool. It’s hard to imagine. If the top card went all the way down to the type line I think it could be okay. Doesn’t seem like it does though.

    • jeff

…and how would they randomly distribute a foil card that was larger than a pack of magic cards?

  • Alex2480

Perhaps some sort of mill strategy to put Bruna and Gisela in the graveyard, and an Ever After? Or even one of the Meld materials and Sidisi Undead Vizier.

  • Nebulium

Well it’s another mono white eldrazi, kind of. And that’s cool. It’s really begging for protection though. The casting restriction does help a lot since a lot of targeted removal is 3 or less.

  • Vizzerdrix

Hey guys you remember that greatest card ever? you know the one that was 2 cards? B.F.M? Big Furry Monster? yeah we found a way to make it work in a real set

  • Fbn Dnl Schlr

As Gisela is called Sela in German translation, I wonder how the
German translation dorks are going to call this. Brusela probably.

    Seriously.
I hate this stuff. Even Fblthp is called Fblzzp on the German Totally
Lost. German is the only language in which Magic cards do random stuff
like that. F the German translators. Really.

    • eltratzo

well I can’t really fault them in the Gisela/sela case, sice Gisela is a really oldfashioned german name that could have taken away quite a bit of impact from her for german speakers.

    • Mr.Mayhem631

Out of curiosity, how much do you know about German?

  • Nanya

    Poor Sigarda.

  • Eroax

What’s happen if we blink brisela ? The two Angels come back or she stay on board ?

    • Happy The Cat

they will come back separated, think of it like blinking a werewolf, except the human side is two creatures

  • Takadori

soooooooooooo, this + Void winower and your opponent is vedy limited now ain’t they

  • Derek Niles

So is this on the back of both Gisela and Bruna?

    • Derek Niles

Oh, they are doing half the picture on the back of each? That’s so frikkin stupid. smh
