No way. Vampires just won the best tribe competition.

    • Nikolai Anzuoni

It’s questionable late though. You could potentially screw yourself.

      • That Guy

… Then you just wouldn’t cast it if it would screw yourself?

        • Santuli

Then you’re holding a dead card?
          I like it tho.

          • That Guy

If you have enough vampires out to screw yourself by playing this, then you shouldn’t need to play it. It’s not a dead card (most of the time), you just might as well keep it for if and when you can benefit from it better. A dead card would be something like a removal spell for black creatures against a mono-green deck.

          • Shagoth

I don’t think it’s necessarily a win more card. If you have a large enough army, you’ll typically be worried about getting blown out by a board wipe. Those are dangerous in both standard and commander for vampire tribal, though this is probably too much for standard.

          • Nikolai Anzuoni

By screw your self I didn’t mean kill your self. I meant lower your life total enough to be in an iffy spot.

          • Shagoth

…I know. I didn’t mention accidental magic suicide.

  • Edward

I know people are probably tired of hearing this but this is so good in Edgar EDH. It is almost always strictly better than Damnable Pact since you will get at least 2 cards off of this along with 2 bodies for only 5 mana. That is the bare minimum value you will get from this.

  • Alex

Oh man, that halberd, that cloak, that silly conquistador hat. You know he’s trouble!

    • Santuli

I knew he was trouble when he walked in

  • Tolle

On this weeks episode of things I want to hit with a kicked right of replication

    • Edward

Only if you want to die or have a high life total

      • Tolle

In EDH you start with 40, and that is the only place Right of replication sees play so…

        • Edward

Yeah and you will lose at least 25 life with this if you copied your opponents creature. If you have other vampires that would go up even more.

          • Tolle

Unlikely to have other vampires in a deck with rite of replication. And in commander there really are only 2 life totals. 0 and not 0. Drawing 25 cards will pretty much give you the game.

    • Happy The Cat

that is now also a goal of mine, but instead to Redirect a Rite of Rep. on to this and hit someone for 25+ 5 for however many vamps they control

      • Tolle

I doubt that is likely to happen. Rite of replication only sees play in commander. Someone running rite of replication likely won’t have vampires so you would need to run this and the swerve affect. At that point you are giving them 25 cards and they likely will easily survive that in commander.

  • Anthony George

My problem is that there are just so many good vamp cards coming out, to the point that I don’t know what to currently remove from my deck to fit them in. I’m already content with what I have in it.

    • Shagoth

It was already tough to make my Edgar Allan Powned deck when it came out.

  • Ceinan Boileau

It’s Twilight Champion if you’re wondering.

  • Chaospyke

That art is glorious. The vampires of RIX really know how to style.

  • sansmyhands

So first we got baby Phyrexian Rager and now we’ve got a Phyrexian Gargantua that went to junior college. I approve.

    • Bostorket

He has an associate’s degree in business accounting and EATING YOUR FACE.

  • Charlie Shadeslayer

    It’s called Champion of Dusk.

  • kmk888

A bare minimum of one card makes this absurd. I’d be surprised if this doesn’t impact standard.
