Colossus of Akros - Theros Spoiler

Colossus of Akros

  • Color: Colorless
  • Type: Artifact Creature - Golem
  • Rarity: Rare
  • Set:

Defender, indestructible.

[10]: Monstrosity 10. (If this creature isn’t monstrous, put ten +1/+1 counters on it and it becomes monstrous.)

As long as Colossus of Akros is monstrous, it has trample and can attack as though it didn’t have defender.

  • Lorescale

lol, 20/20 trample indestructible is not mythic rare. I guess mythics are for spikes only now.

In order to have that monstrosity immediately you need 18 mana. Otherwise you have to wait till next turn to do so. It’s beastly but it’s not like dark/blight steel colossus in that it lacks the ability to go to your deck instead of the graveyard. It also lacks the token generation of the World Spine. Not too surprised it is not a mythic, but also would not be upset/surprised even if it was a mythic. it kinda borders the line for me.

hey your forgeting to cards that can pump up your mana. Mana flare and others can double the amount of mana you have on the field.

      • lorescale

that is exactly my point. I thought mythics were designed with a certain group of people in mind (timmy, spike, johnny). Spikes are looking at this card like you do, going ¨I will never play this, too expensive, not good enough.” But some mythics, like hellkite overlord, dark/blightsteel colossus, are there mainly for Timmy to enjoy. Timmy cares about 20/20 creatures, not about their mana costs. Monstrosity is in my eyes the ultimate timmy ability. This is the ultimate timmy monstrosity card.

I’m loving this card. It’s subject to low cost removal but is indestructible. Still gets eaten by Marit Lage, no problem.

    Oh, look, an eldrazi.

    • Jacob

      Not even a little bit…

    • Chopin

Unless a card has annihilator it’s not even close to an eldrazi.
