It does not take much in the graveyard to make this playable, and just a little extra makes this insane.

  • Kevin Wickland

do the aftermath cards count as 2 for this?

    • prplprince

they do for goyfs so I would say yes

      • Urdothor

Probably not. This says card. Goyf says type. 1 artifact creature is 2 for goyf. An Instant sorcery(aftermath cards) doesn’t count as 2 seperate cards. Kind of like you can’t delve an aftermath card for 2.

        • prplprince

          touche

    • Urdothor

No, as its still only 1 card.

  • James Cordova

Is this better than angler in modern gixis, the double blue cmc is the only thing making it even a question.

    • God Enel

Not even close, it doesn’t take advantage of fetchlands and dead/milled creatures.

    • Cody Alex Humble

No, it says Card. In mtg Card term necessitates a physical body of an actual card, so split cards count as one. Especially with new rules. they are considered instant sorceries instead of and instant and a sorcery.
Im biased. i play fevered visions. so trust me that i really want it to be as broken as possible >.<

  • Logan Perez

    Love it.

DAYUM Bedlam Reveler just got a friend!!!!!
UR Cryptic Reveler Drake Haven O_O

  • JarabeBorscht

l think it looks better than it really is. Sure it can come as a 6/5 for UU, but it is no Tarmogoyf whatsoever and with the exception of very specific decks focused on filling up the graveyard very early in the game, it is just tío slow. Sure is cheap so you can play it and leave some lands untapped to play a counterspell or something else, but i would prefer to tap all my lands to play an actually good creature cause it wont come down before turn 5 un most of the cases, and regarding draft, it wont be my first pick either, too much depending on spells to be consistent enough

    • Random Guy

Compare to flayer/tasigur. It’s no goyf but it’s quite playable. In draft it’s probably a 5 mana 6/5 which is definitely not a first pick.

  • KrakenHunter

    not bad.

  • Jeffrey Zom

This might actually be good enough to see play in modern?
    It dodges bolt!
    it always dodges fatal push!
It fits in with deck that use a lot of sorceries/instants anyway, that play card like tasigur or snapcaster mage!
(it doesn’t exile them so you can still use them!)
I guess the sad thing is that it doesn’t dodge dismember while a 5/6 tarmogoyf can (although you need 5 types which are not always present as well).
And it also requires double blue which might be a little to hard?

    • Kameenook

Bedlam Reveler is so much better, and hasn’t seen much play.

      • Travis Stronach

I love Bedlam Reveler in my UR prowess deck. But then again I play way more EDH so don’t listen to me :)

      • Kaiser

I remember see one or two decks that run the Reveler in modern, but i think they were Budget decks. Still, it can be played in modern, not a tier 1 card but is fast enough right?

      • Shagoth

Bedlam is bad in control, terrible in control. This is perfect for control, it’s beefier than Bedlam reveler and doesn’t net you card disadvantage. I could see this in Delver.

        • DJPad

Is it really better than Tasigur or Gurmag Angler though? Sure this doesn’t deplete your graveyard, but those come down much sooner thanks to fetch lands.

        • Larry Blaser

Its not that this is a bad card in Delver, its that it will never be good enough to replace tass or fish. if it had flying, then maybe, but the vanilla 5/6 hitting AT LEAST 1 turn (and most likely more) behind fish just isn’t good enough to justify leaving your yard intact.

          • Shagoth

Yeah, but you can multiples of this. You’ll probably be able to play one gurmag, two at most. This feller can be played multiple times without eating your resources away.

        • Kameenook

wouldn’t run it in delver, wouldn’t run it in control. Not good, whetehr or not reveler is good in control this is worse than reveler in any deck that wants either.

          • Shagoth

Just because a card is generally better doesn’t mean that it’s always better. I’d rather have a raging goblin in my mono red burn deck than Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.
Reveler in control makes your hand much tinier than it would be other wise. You go from six or so cards to three, that’s not a good trade.

          • Cody Alex Humble

Kameenook. DO YOU PLAY CONTROL IN STANDARD?! That’s what I thought. IF im wrong and you do, you definitely do NOT run decks this would see play in.
If you DO decide to rebuttal, please do not waste my time with arguments posted by someone else that you happened to read about. what are YOUR experiences

          • Kameenook

Sorry I was unaware we were talking standard.

Still would rather be able to generate CA off my threat rather than just a beefstick.

      • Cody Alex Humble

Bedlam reveler is not strictly better, and has seen play in my fevered visions deck. I have made 1st 2 times back to bac, the only 2 times i went to STD tournaments. i play 1 Bedlam reveler for this reason- having 2 is useless BECAUSE of the draw/discard. i would run 3-4 of this card if i could.

  • Kaiser

A serpent that is stricly good in standard, have 0 bck draws and come early in the game? What in the hell is happen in this set? XDD so much power in just 2 spoiler days.

  • Hedronal

“Affinity for instants and sorceries in your graveyard.”

  • Insight66

You’ll get this guy down around the same time you’d have a Desecration Demon
