• Ultramegalord

I miss my one drop mana dorks but this is nice, shame no reach though.

    • Alexander Malinin (Cfyz)

He wouldn’t reach anything through all this thick foliage anyway.

      • Ultramegalord

I’d argue he can climb though reach would have flavor

  • Adriano Lecaldare

I really like this card for what it’s worth.

  • Khan1104

    Booo I tell you Boooo.

  • Gitrog the Musical

Look at this art for one second. It looks almost… derpy. It seems so realistic but off at the same time

  • yolksoup

Ehhhhhh, rather have it as a 1/1 with a cmc 1 drop

    • Coby Folk

Wizards has been pretty vocal since Elvish mystic that they don’t plan on letting 1cmc mana dorks slip into standard.

    • Duncan

Wizards said elvish mystic is a mistake that wont do again so 1 mana 1/1 that taps for two colours and vould have deathtouch would be way too overpowered

      • Dramon

LOL. Maybe we should call Elvish Mystic “Elvish MISTAKE”!!! :D

  • chippy

would be better a 1/2 with his delirium deathtouch.
    that would be nice.

    • TogetherAlone

1/2’s are terrible. you always want higher power so the turns you dont need mana from it, you can take 10% of their starting total if left unblocked instead of 5%. Its the difference between a 10 turn clock and a 20 turn clock.

      • Mr.Mayhem631

On an aggressive creature, sure. You’re very rarely going to attack with this guy, so I’d prefer it to be able to eat 1/1s.
“you always want higher power” isn’t really true on a defensive guy like this.

        • TogetherAlone

Look, having 2 power means it kills creatures in aggressive decks with 2 toughness, unlike your 1/2. So on the defensive it is still better, because you are not going to have delirum that early for deathtouch. On top of that, there are literally going to be zero aggressive decks running 1/1’s that will be relevant to block anyway.

          • Mr.Mayhem631

            First of all, limited.
Second of all, Devil tokens look like they may be a theme.
It may be that it’s better as a 2/1.
But it’s certainly possible that extra point of toughness would be worth it.

  • MTGFanatic

    This should be common

    • TogetherAlone

      Uncommon at best.

    • Melissa Juice

      Definitely not.

    • Hedronal

At common this would be in 2/3 of all limited games.

  • Aarhg

Wow, this art is really creepy, possibly due to the realistic style.
The card does kinda feel underwhelming at rare though.

  • Zume

Mana dork that taps for black also, not to bad. Still have hopes in this set for a crazy good utility creature.

  • Happy The Cat

I wanted to make some fun guy joke but it’s not really worth is, it’s okay and will trade up later on when you have delerium but nothing really special here.

  • Atarka Effreet

    Jarad would approve.

    • Dramon

      Yes he would.

  • Zombie

Why is this a rare, again?

    • Melissa Juice

      Limited power, mostly.

  • wiseguy

mana dorks are sooo bad these days…

    • Kameenook

This is a 2 color mana dork that has upside, why is this terrible ?

  • kmk888

An uncommon or common at rare. Hmm.

I think some people are drastically underestimating the difficulty of achieving delirium. I think you’re going to have to put some dead weights, lands that crack themselves, a mixture of sorceries and instants, etc just to be able to get delirium and because of random variation it still won’t happen consistently without self mill.

    • MrAptronym

Having some Artifact Creatures worth playing alongside delirium would help a lot. I hope something shows up.

    • EJ

I’m hoping they print an Artifact Enchantment Creature Land.

      • kmk888

Just like reprint the god weapons from Theros for no reason other than delirium? I can dig it

    • Liam Maiher

I’ve been play testing GB Delirium and I can consistently achieve delirium by turn 2-3 and swing game by turn 6-7 since standard will be slowing to a longer format I think it is viable.

      • kmk888

        Decklist please.

        • Liam Maiher

I will be more than happy to post a list once I get the slight land inconsistencies ironed out. But the main idea is to fill the yard using Corpse churn, and Mindwrack Demon. Also it uses oath of Nissa as a draw engine and adds enchantment to the yard using the legend rule. Then use traverse the Ulvenwald to get either Mindwrack Demon or soul Swallower to swing game within 2-3 turns.

          • kmk888

Sounds decent. If you like, throw some Dead Weights in there as cheap removal that goes to the graveyard and enables Delirium

          • Liam Maiher

Here’s the deck at the moment. Keep in mind it is a work in progress and still needs fine tuning and a side board

  • MrAptronym

I like the card, but opening it as a rare, I would feel a bit unhappy. It feels more comfortable as an uncommon to me. It just does not feel flashy or intriguing enough for rare? based on the past few sets, it seems we are looking at rare mana dorks as a standard thing now?

    • EJ

I think they’re doing away with one-drop mana dorks, so they have to make mana dorks with something extra. This is interesting to me because he makes more than 1 type of mana, and he becomes a rattlesnake in the later part of the game.

I don’t know about standard / modern, but in EDH, a Mana dork like this plays very well with Prossh. He develops your board, deters non-flying creatures from attacking, and can be sacrificed to Prossh when it’s time to close out the game.

  • Kevin Johnstone

K… pls give me elvish mystic as rare, IDGAF, but stop giving us garbo 2 drop ramps instead of greens 1 mana ramp

    • Happy The Cat

I’d like them to reprint Bird ops at rare but we will never get that ether

    • Melissa Juice

      This is fantastic.

Also, not all standard environments need 1 drop mana dudes.

  • Happy The Cat

so I could have a hexproof 0/3 that can add any color but also has defender or I can get a 2/1 that only can tap for black or green and in the late game it earns deathtouch?
yeah I’ll take the first one, thank you

    • Melissa Juice

No, you can’t have the first. That was a very different standard environment.

  • Phoenix UNBENCHED

Haters gonna hate, but this golgari mage could not be happier to see this delirious, shirtless, disgusting, homeless person. Ramp decks don’t want to topdeck a mana dork late game, which is when he gains deathtouch. I’d gladly swap out a set of rattleclaws for these any day.
And no, he isn’t doing shrooms. The shrooms are doing him.

    • Dominic Ng

      Is that you, Captain Te**o?

      • Phoenix UNBENCHED

shh we don’t speak its name…

        • Vixin Xiviir

          Thought you were Singed.

          • Phoenix UNBENCHED

Oh, I am. Dominic was invoking he-who-must-not-be-named. Presumably because of the shrooms.

  • Rocco DeNiro

honestly thought that was leo from the revenant in the art

  • Kameenook

Is he feeding them part of his body ?

    • Atarka Effreet

No, the mushrooms are feeding HIS body.

      • Kameenook

But the flavor text says he won’t tell people what he feeds his mushrooms, not what he eats.

  • Blahblahblahbla

    Playability: 4/10
    Name: 8/10
    Art: 12/10

I so often want to superimpose the amazing art from unusable cards onto actual playable cards.

Like if i could have Rite of the Serpent’s art on Dark Ritual!

Or, or… Bouncing Beebles’ art in place of the new Sorin, Grim Nemesis?!! That would definitely be an upgrade.

    • Blahblahblahbla

I meant to say Bubbling Beebles, but whether they are bouncing or bubbles really makes no difference. Still better art.
