    Birthing pod v2?

    • MrAptronym

Being not repeatable and sorcery speed kills a lot of the utility.

      • Mr.Mayhem631

inb4 “birthing pod was sorcery speed”

  • MrAptronym

Sad about that last line, but a potent and fun effect anyway.

    • Kahai

Just play GW animals. This and those two cards i just mentioned, Pull from Eternity and Riftsweeper. :3

    • Zombie

It would be legitimately too strong if you could just keep recurring it over and over easily with cards like Snapcaster etc.

  • Arcus Diabolus

Thank GOD for Angel of Jubilation in modern…

    this is freakin terrifying.

    • Robert FakeLastName

even still this thing might get the ban hammer b/c this in coco chord is too good.

  • Khan1104

    Amazing Card

  • munkeemanometal

Anyone whose jaw does not drop at the sight of this probably hasn’t played much (or any) Magic before. This might not be “better” than Birthing Pod, but often times one shot of the Pod is all you need (especially in combo decks) and this is objectively better in that respect. Oh, and Pod is banned in modern. I wonder if this is going to be a very much failed attempt at printing a “fixed” Pod…

  • Nelson Chandra

And that’s how you turn kitchen finks into Thragtusk.

    • Julna Buras

      I just screamed.

  • Andrew

so this basically means combo decks are a thing now in standard cause tutor.

    • Jaya

LOL, I wouldnt go that far just cuz of 1 con wolrdly tutor.

  • Arcus Diabolus

If Craterhoof Boar-hemoth was just one CMC higher…

Emrakul would have such an easy time getting out, although without the free mind slaver, which is what makes New Emrakul strong.

    • andrew

i was thinking more along the lines of new 4cc angel with this into the other angel but alas its 7cc not 6cc

    • andrew

oh but you have avacyn that is 5cc hmmm could be greatness

      • Arcus Diabolus

I see this as a better way of triggering Avacyn’s flip, personally, although you could use this to tutor for Avacyn.

        • andrew

new thalia into avacyn seems good

    • George Zamyatin

I was thinking the same thing with the new bruna and gisela. If bruna was 6 cmc then you could have sacked gisela then use eldritch evolution to get bruna and bring gisela back with bruna effect.

      • andrew

        bruna says cast unfortunately

  • TimTorn

A poor man’s natural order but I’ll still take it

    • Aaron Couch

      No green creature necessity though

  • munkeemanometal

Evolving Pia and Kiran into Woodland Bellower and getting Tireless Tracker seems at least good (if not broken) in standard…

  • Nanya

    Oh hey, it’s Birthing Pod!

    • Zombie

Looks more like Birthing Tentacle Pig

      • munkeemanometal

        Birthing Hog?

    • Robert FakeLastName

      more like natural order

  • aswanlikeneck

Matter Reshaper – Deep Fiend – Ulamog on 5

    • Kahai

      It exiles itself.

      • Zombie

        What exiles itself, Ulamog?

You know Ulamog hits lands, right? It doesn’t have to target itself on T5 there would be plenty of other legal targets.

This card eating itself doesn’t matter when you’re casting it by saccing the Deep-Fiend.

        • Kahai

Nevermind. The spell itself does exile on resolution. I still doubt the likelihood of turn 5 Ulamog’s being anything but a wet dream.

Has the worst chances than: turn three, Bitter ordeal after recurring Myr Retrievers with Heartless Summoning to exile their library. :P

          • aswanlikeneck

No recursion required. To confirm, T5 Ulamog would need the following

your first 4 land drops, presumably including Yavimaya Coast
a 3-drop on turn 3 (any 3-drop, I’m only choosing Displacer because it’s got a nice bonus when you sac it)
the new card Elder Deep-Diver on turn 4, you sac the 3-drop and pay its emerge cost
This thing ^^^ on 5 without even a 5th land required

incidentally Ulamog won’t be exiling anything as he won’t be cast – would just be nice to ramp him out that early.

This is more likely than a wet dream. A wet dream would be if you also spend your 2 drop playing mimic, and it lives, and you hit another one with your Reshaper.

          • Kahai

I don’t regularly play Standard. IDK what does and doesn’t work in that format. xD

          • Eric Krug

There is actually a turn four ulamog in standard, t1 play a forest then blisterpod, turn 2 forest then beastcaller savant then tap that for a blisterpod, turn 3 forest, tap two lands for another beastcaller tap your two beastcallers and last land for a shaman of the forgotten ways, turn 4 play a land(assuming your blisterpod die) sac the two scion tokens(2 mana) tap the two beastcallers(2 mana) tap shaman (2 mana) then tap four lands and you have ten mana for ulamog, also gives you the cast trigger

        • Hedronal

Ulamog exiles only libraries this way, as his removal ability is a cast trigger.

  • kmk888

Okay, okay. They did the right thing making this one card exile itself.

Still might see play in Modern and you better believe it will make it to Standard, at the very minimum in GB Aristocrats. I’m thinking of playing at least one Eldrazi Displacer and at least one Brood Monitor if I add this.

    • Kahai

I see me playing this in Modern with Riftsweeper… :3

      • manapants

    • Robert FakeLastName

i think the true mistake here was printing natural order for coco chord.

      • kmk888

That may be true. This one is particularly vulnerable to counterspells however. It’s a sorcery that costs you a creature to cast. Chord and Coco are both probably better.

        • Robert FakeLastName

well there are 8 persist targets in that deck. The creature sack can be played around.

  • Desuitis

so fixed natural order ? XD

  • Julna Buras

I may or may not have screamed when I saw this card.

  • Vizzerdrix

So collected company in a reflector mage and turn it into ojutai? Ok sounds good

  • Deadly Berry

If Birthing Pod taught us anything that would be… you get it, this card is great.

  • Fcmalw

Panoptic Mirror + this card = Birthing Pod replacement for Modern?

    • Gabriel Fortier

I think the real problem here is the mana cost of panoptic mirror, birthpod was insanely fast and required little mana to activate.

  • Marc Tremblay

I m looking at my old birthing pod deck and I’m saying to myself , Maybe this card will do just maybe

  • kk

This Card is broken for Standard, possibly modern… Are you kiding me??!

Play a 3 mana creture… next turn Cast this.. fetch goblin dark dwellers… sac goblin dark dwellers .. then Fetch a 7 DROP!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is too consistent…. 7 drop turn 4, even turn 3…

    • Gabriel Fortier

The card exile itself. So there, that won’t happen.

    • Gabriel Fortier

And I didn’t see your second comment up there, sorry !

  • kk

err i didn´t saw the exile clause.

  • Elijah Bones Stewart

    Scornful Egotist’s triumphant return!

    • Gabriel Fortier

I have to do this to mess with a bunch of my friends ! Not sure which 10 drops to go fetch though…

  • silverhawk100

Oh hey look, a fairish Natural Order. This won’t break a few formats.

  • Robert FakeLastName

Everyone is screaming birthing pod, but this is much more like an altered natural order. This thing will break modern.

  • Snievan

Sacrifice Avacyn, Tutor up Bruna, return Avacyn. Gas.

  • Happy The Cat

natural order and birthing pod had a balanced baby!

  • Thomas Happ

So you get to Eldrich Evolution, a Kitchen Finks into an Archangel of Thune….cool.

  • silumgar
