• Arcus Diabolus

A vampire that isn’t growing tentacles?

    A normal vampire?

    In this set?

Is there hope for Innistrad’s tribes?

    • TogetherAlone

There have already been a few vamps without them :P

      • Arcus Diabolus

Not really. If they don’t have tentacles, then they have a third arm or leg. Pretty much every card in this set would be aligned to eldrazi in some way.

        • Kaiser

Three arms are better than two (?)

        • TogetherAlone

Bloodhall Priest and the double black costed vampire in this set are just normal vamps.

    • Fabien Joan Bernex

Considering the flavor text, could we have a good legendary vampire coming ?

      • Guardian

It seems so, I suspect a mythic rare at red.

        • Fabien Joan Bernex

Seems weird with Olivia being here but why not, vampires are cool.

    • Melissa Juice

Innistrad is a popular block. They aren’t going to eliminate the tribes there. At least not any time soon.

      • Arcus Diabolus

I would argue they are well on their way already.

        • Melissa Juice

          They almost certainly aren’t.

          • Arcus Diabolus

Care to explain? None of the tribes in this set are anything like even those from the last set.

And before you say they don’t have the stones to change up an entire plane, look at Mirrodin and New Phyrexia. Then look at what they already did to the angels. We are already on the fast track for permanent changes.

They’ll keep eldrazi minions on this plane so they have a place to return to if they ever wanted eldrazi again, and the tribes of Innistrad will always be getting corrupted to make way for that.

          • Hedronal

Looking at the five main tribes of Innistrad, humans and vampires turned out armies, and undead (in this case meaning spirits and zombies) aren’t affected by Emrakul. All Innistrad needs is some of its old lycanthropy to take hold again and the only lost tribe is angels, for which most of the tribal ones were already also tribal to humans.

  • Fabien Joan Bernex

More playable in cronstructed than the dragon.

    • Daniel Kaine Allen

I think you just want something bad to say about the dragon

      • Fabien Joan Bernex

        Completely ! :D

    • Mr.Mayhem631

      Yes, but actually no.

  • Kaiser

This isnt a vamp, this is a bear :V

    • Chaospyke

      Vampire Bear?

      • Kaiser

  • David S. McCrae

    Broken! LOL

  • TheAweDude

I can bearly believe this spoiler!

  • Tövar Strid

The new Liliana can’t kill it.

    • Robert FakeLastName

on the same token this card cannot do anything to lily other than force her to +1.

    • Melissa Juice

      As designed, sure.

  • So it looks like the vampiric houses each have their own story in this set. The Stromkirk seem to have embraced Emrakul’s madness. The Falkenrath have found new power in blood magic from their founder. Looks to be pretty interesting but i don’ think they are going to focus on it much.

Also lightly disappointing we didn’t see anything involved with Jeleva during this block.

  • Edward

Am I the only one who wonders why they would spoil this? It isn’t interesting or unique. It is literally just a 2/2 for 2 which isn’t special. Why couldn’t they have just saved this for the other vanilla creatures at the end of spoiler season? It just seems like a waste of a spoiler spot

    • David S. McCrae

They spoil all the cards as they are released. It doesn’t matter if it’s not interesting or unique; it’s a card that will be in Eldritch Moon. That’s it.

      • Tyler Alexander Phillips

      • Edward

I don’t have a problem with boring creatures or things that won’t have that much of an impact. I just think they should save the vanilla creatures for the end after all the good stuff has been spoiled. If I wait around for spoilers and see this as 1 of the 11 or so spoilers for that day it just seems very disappointing

    • MrAptronym

Believe it or not, red has never had a vanilla 2/2 for 1R. They all have drawbacks. (Okay Goblin Furrier is basically vanilla outside its own block.) There is a subset of players who notice things like that, and I have seen some people pretty excited by this card. To you, a humble 2/2 for 2 vanilla, to someone else, a tiny little milestone for red.

      • Edward

I understand that but it is still aggravating when I sit around waiting for spoilers and then we get something like this that is super vanilla. Even if it was just a 1 drop 2/1 then I wouldn’t have a problem but a 2/2 for 2 with no ability is just not something that they need to spoil until near the end of spoilers.

        • MrAptronym

Again, you are just not the audience, some people were cheering when this was revealed. Spoilers have to cater to all sorts of players.

          • Melissa Juice

    • David S. McCrae

Oh also, let’s not forget the fact that if you’re playing limited and you open something that goes very well with vampires, then you open or get passed this little guy, you’re going to be friggin’ hype! XD

    • Melissa Juice

Good limited cards are nice to see spoiled.

      • Edward

I get that and I get that it is a red 2/2 for 2 which has never happened but it is still super vanilla. I really wish they would just save these for later in spoiler season after all the mythics are spoiled and we only have a few rares left. It could have been spoiled tomorrow or Thursday because by then they will probably have spoiled the last mythic and we will be down to the last few rares.

        • William Powell

I honestly belive they spoiled this card because of the name drop in the flavor text. We may be getting a new legendary vampire. I’m thinking mono red, it’s something to consider

        • Melissa Juice

You realize you aren’t entitled to *any* spoilers, don’t you?

          • Matt Salvia

You realize that Wizards does spoilers to sell product, don’t you? I think Edward’s point is that nobody is getting all jazzed up for a vanilla bear.

          • Hedronal

Some people are (or were by now) a little bit, given that it’s the first vanilla red bear.

  • Nanya

    Hmm, vanilla…

    On the other-hand…

  • Alex Levon Colello

Even though it is bland, this is still interesting because it is the first {1}{R} 2/2 that doesn’t have a downside.

  • Jaya

2 for 2/2 isnt great nowdays, however this is red, notoriously known for having rly bad 2 drops and in red 2 for 2/2 back in the days would be mythic easly.

    • Tragic

It’s also red, known for ridiculous 1 drops, just to clarify.

  • Epiphany

limited playable only – not helpful to mono red at all

    • NoobOfLore

It’s a vanilla bear. What were you expecting?

  • EddieDeanofIgnorance

    {insert Firefly/Serenity Reaver reference here}

  • Samuel

cherry vanilla vampire is cherry vanilla

  • Derek Niles

  • justindeltora

history is made the first and only vanilla red bear

  • JSpence

A 2/2 for 2 isn’t HORRIBLE, especially for red where uneven p/t pretty much reigns supreme. Good filler for a vampire deck too if it needs a bit more red.
