    This can get out of hand pretty quickly. It’s no bitter blossom, and it’s not packrat, but it ought to be removed. I like the power level in the set so far. Looks balanced.

      2 mana every turn IF it attacks AND you control another pirate, on a 2/1. I’m not sure why this is rare. Still decent tho.

        “IF it attacks” I get that dying to removal is a problem and all, but acting like a creature attacking is a hoop to jump through is like acting like it’s weird for a land to tap for mana. That’s 90% of what it does.

          Creatures can only attack if it’s safe to do so. Otherwise you’re paying 2 mana to use up 2 blockers, that’s all. I guess menace is actually a very nice combo, so I’m starting to think it could be decent.

            no, they dont have to be safe to attack. its suggested, but not necessary. and you just need to have another pirate, it doesnt have to be attacking, or get tapped, so you’re only using up 1 blocker that isnt really much of a blocker in order to make a slightly better blocker token. and since the admiral needs you to attack with a bunch of pirates, an agressively costed, menace, token spawner is practically an auto-include.

        2 mana for a 2/1 with Menace would already be good for an uncommon. This can make 2/2 tokens with Menace when it attacks for 2 mana not to mention the fact that the Pirate mechanic is raid which requires you to attack. This card is probably one of the best designed rares in the set and will certainly be playable if Pirates become a thing in Standard

    Good reward for pirate tribal, with the exact sort of evasive body you need for raid.
