• Peter Cassell

such a bizarre card. At 6 mana its likely to be unplayable.

  • raziel11

    neeto

  • Gord

Any room for this in a Charbelcher deck?

  • galen150

im a little confused, do you have to play those spells immediately? usually for cards like this it will have a ‘you may cast them until end of turn’ part on the end.

    • Han Solo II

yes, you cast them as part of effect for this card

      • galen150

thanks. feel like this spell could be worded a bit better

  • Han Solo II

This seems bad in limited, hey wanna take a huge gamble and be sure to lose value? Let’s go!

    • Shawn Michael Diaz

Unless drawing four cards and playing all the playable ones and discarding the rest lategame is bad value, this is good value.

      • Han Solo II

No, you will most surely miss with this 99% of the time, this is bad value. But let’s agree to disagree.

  • Jay Kilian

And red gets hosed again. Red has such a straightforward concept yet they try to make it more complicated and expensive. This will see 0 play.

    • Han Solo II

there will be a kid in some school who will win over his friend by resolving this and casting all lands and instants!

      • Jay Kilian

        This doesn’t hit lands. It’s a $0.10 rare.

        • Shagoth

His point is that a kid will misinterpret the complex rules of the game, like they usually do.

    • Thorsten Hammerklopper

Someone somewhere will play this in storm.

      • Jay Kilian

Why? So they can cast 1-2 already low CMC spells for free? It’s like a bad collected company with the variance in revealing only the top 4 cards and costs SIX mana. I don’t see it.

      • Random Guy

Instead of gifts ungiven? Highly unlikely. Storm does not need more mana, it needs more card draw.

        P.S. I hate storm

  • galen150

so based on the name, does hazoret maybe not die?

    • Han Solo II

yeah, she does, but she comes back with a +1/+1 counter on her

  • loterde

Just for my own clarification the individual cards being casted off this resolution need cmc 5 or less right? Not the sum of their cmcs?

    • Jordan

      correct

  • Caleb Martin

    Hazoret doesn’t die!!!

    • Hedronal

Her Fury might not die, but she does.

      • Caleb Martin

        Fair enough

  • Chaospyke

I really hope this isn’t part of the cycle and is just a stand alone card.

Not Red’s biggest fan but this is just abyssmal

    • TogetherAlone

This is the red card in the cycle. It has the lands don’t untap clause.

  • Jay Kilian

Hazoret’s Last Aggression – 2RR – Sorcery – Hazoret’s Last Aggression deals 4 damage to each creature and player. Lands you control don’t untap during your next untap phase.

Was that so hard? Bontu, Rhonas, and Oketra’s “Last” cycle cards are all playable, this one is just not.

    • Jacob Hennessy

Or even just ‘Discard your hand, deal X damage target creature or opponent’ where X is the number of cards you discarded, lands don’t untap.’

This synergizes with Hazoret herself and could have a slightly higher mana cost if anything

      • Jay Kilian

I like it the concept but it would be to EACH creature and opponent. Bontu’s shaved 1cmc off a Damnation, Oketra’s could be a “gain 19 life” card (or more in commander), and Rhonas gave us a 2cmc 5/4. Red’s version should be exceptional too.

I hope Kefnet’s is like 1UU – Draw X cards, where X is equal to the number of cards in your hand, then discard X cards. Lands you control don’t untap next turn.

    • Random Guy

      Very similar to Bontu’s.

  • Russell Colosi

This will only see play in decks with Mind’s Desire. Hitting this off a minds desire is like pulling 777 on a slot machine. Banned in Legacy and restricted in vintage means the only time you’ll see this played is alongside your lotus. Otherwise, to the dollar rare bin you go.

  • colin

you know a card is bad when it would still be bad if it cost one mana less

  • Jordan

Juuuuuuuuuunk. Red continue’s it’s horrible streak.

    • Shawn Michael Diaz

It’s a 1 of finisher in a red aggro deck. How is that trash? You should have very low odds of getting lands in a red deck if you’ve got 6 on the battlefield already. So think of it like this – the game is going too long and they’re stabilizing and then you get to artificially draw and cast 4 cards for 6 mana. If you don’t win off of this in mono red aggro, you’re playing it wrong. Especially considering you can hit cards like Glory Bringer.

      • Jordan

This is absolute garbage. One of the worst red cards printed in a long time. First off, you’re going to be lucky if you get even 3 cards out of the 4 due to have a higher amount of lands to cards ratio. Secondly you’d NEVER play this in mono red aggro. You never play a 6 mana top of the curve as most red aggro decks run 19-22 lands.

Hitting a glorybringer? Lets say you get LUCKY and make your 6 land drops. You have your 7 card opener and you’ve drawn 5 cards since. Let’s pretend you have 4 Glorybringers. You have a 0.34% chance of hitting a dragon. If you don’t? You just gave your opponent two turns. If you do? congrats, you spent 6 mana to do 4-6 damage.

No, more likely you’ll spend 12 mana over two turns casting 2-3 4 mana spells. This card is a joke.

        • Random Guy

2-3 4 mana spells for 1 card and 12 mana, but immediately, is alright.

          • Jordan

Or you could just cast them normally and save yourself a card…

          • Random Guy

In that case this card is a draw 2/3 for 0 mana. It doesn’t always work out, but it has potential.

        • AndyZ

Where are you getting 0.34%? That’s not even close. If the only cards missing from your deck when you cast this were the six lands you needed and the spell itself, you would have a 72.4% chance of not hitting a single Glorybringer, meaning you’re chance of hitting at least one Glorybringer is almost 30%. In your example (assuming you didn’t draw a Glorybringer to this point), it’s a little over 30%, but not 0.34%.

          • Jordan

Sorry, I shortcutted. .34 x100 is 34%. And still you’re correct it’s 30% not 34%. My point still stands. You’ll hit a Glorybringer on T6 1/3 of the time, IF you hit all 6 land drops, in a deck that’s running 21-24 lands. Good luck with that.

  • Jazzyboy1

If it didn’t make you shuffle your library first, then it could be good with some heavy scry. As it is, it relies too much on luck.

    • Shawn Michael Diaz

      Marvel didn’t?

      • Geoffrey Baron

For marvel you can manipulate your library. Like Collected company.

        • Shagoth

I just realized that a lot of standard breaking decks involve cheating creatures from the top of your deck.

          • Shawn Michael Diaz

Cheating mana costs is the most broken thing you can do in magic most of the time. I think they realized pretty quickly they needed to cap mana costs on effects like this.

          • Shagoth

I still don’t see why Quicksilver Amulet isn’t considered more busted, it’s the most straightforward way to do that and it’s pretty cheap given what you’re going to do with it.

          • Shawn Michael Diaz

Artifacts get a lot of hate cards, you need 8 mana to do it right away, you don’t get to go looking for the creature with the card, it’s creature only, etc. Decks play amulet though.

          • Shagoth

Artifacts usually don’t get hated in the main board, though. Swap it out in game two for through the breach, the creature attacks the same turn, one less turn to get thoughtseized.

        • Shawn Michael Diaz

Talking about Standard, where no Marvel players were manipulating their libraries much beyond thinning out lands, which also works for this card.

          • Jordan

Marvel was able to go off on turn 4 and play something like Ulamog which this cant do either. You also had multiple chances with Marvel.

      • Landon Martin

Marvel also costed only 4, went six cards deep, didn’t make your lands untappable, and stayed on the field for future use. That was kinda a silly comparison.

        • Shawn Michael Diaz

The criticism was that luck was involved and that’s silly. I’m not saying the two are of the same power level.

      • Jazzyboy1

Marvel didn’t require you to shuffle your library, so you could manipulate your library to make it more effective. Library manipulation isn’t necessarily that viable in Standard anyway, I’ll admit, but it’s relevant in EDH. Also, Marvel went six cards deep, which can make all the difference sometimes. Plus Marvel could be used to cast bigger things for free. And finally, Marvel was cheaper and easier to pull off in the decks it was used in. As a red card with RR in its cost, this isn’t quite as viable as a finisher. In decks that would be able to pay its cost(ramp or control), they would probably want to use cards with a CMC higher than 5 as their actual finishers.

  • Shagoth

Honestly, am I the only one who like this card? Seems great in Melek, basically the second copy of mind’s desire. It does seem like it has too many disadvantages, but this is also the only time i can picture a burn deck playing a six mana card. Against a control deck, this could be a finishing blow after you ran out of cards, and you draw cards cards AND can afford to play them the same turn! This obviously won’t see play in burn, or anywhere probably, but it looks more interesting then the other “Lasts” for sure. I mean, the untap clause makes a decent card bad, but I digress.

    • Jay Kilian

      Yes, I think you are.

    • Kevan Kramer

Burns decks don’t even want this card

      • Shagoth

I emphasized that it won’t see play in burn, but if there was a six drop that burn would want (but burn never wants six drops), it’s probably this one (or Fireblast, but does that really count?)

    • MithosFall

My Cascade EDH deck will love this card.

      • Shagoth

Oh shoot, I must put this in Yidris.

        • MithosFall

          Yes, yes you must.

  • Jacob Hennessy

She’s not even worthy of Flavor Text!

    • Random Guy

      ):

  • Aleczander117

So this is a really bad card.

  • Derek Mullins

I understand that hate, but I think this is my favorite of the bunch, so far. Usually Red’s exile ‘card draw’ comes with a free cost. I have no clue if it’s playable, but if it was built around, it could be fun. Just wish the shuffle clause wasn’t there (I know that’s precedent).

    • TogetherAlone

Except this only digs FOUR cards and costs 6 mana. Collected company dug 6 cards at 4 mana at instant speed. The math for the card is bad. this is literally hot garbage. I wouldn’t even play this in limited where the odds of hits are better.

      • Derek Mullins

Nothing I said remotely disagrees with anything you said, or any of the haters here, or warranted adamant justification. I just said I think this is my favorite of the bunch (maybe second, now the blue is spoiled), but the hate probably answers my question about playability.

Funny enough, CoCo was admitted by Wizards to be busted, and they seem to have repeatedly said that after each successive ‘free cost’ mistake (Marvel, expertise cycle, etc), and I have a good feeling this was nerfed towards the end as they realized this. Also, I bet they were worried about the nutty 4 card hit, where you cast 4 for free at once, of which, none of those actually do.

  • Ryuji Nichol Pabila

    Red got the shaft again

    • jaya

      Its the usual

  • Geoffrey Baron

I think it could have costed 3RR. Such random + Lands don’t untap could allow to snowball if lucky.

    • jaya

      Lands you control

  • Random Guy

Oh, shuffle library first? It’s alright then, situational burn card, possibly combo with other cards that can remove lands from library.

  • Shawn Michael Diaz

I strongly believe this is good in one situation only, and that’s as a one of in a standard aggro deck that likes to empty its hand, tops its curve with Glory Bringer, and plays about 17-20 lands tops. It’s a way to instantly refuel lategame and that makes sense to me for red.

    • TogetherAlone

a deck as you describe would never get to 6 lands to play this at least not if they want to win. this card has no home its bad in every way

  • jaya

Wizards as some serious hatred for red, and i can bet the blue of this cycle will be the best, im looking foward to it…Its sad rly. Red is more than being aggressive and passionate, it also means intelligence and charisma and other values psychologically speaking yet wizards has some deep grudge on it.

    • ymmij X

black is probably still the best.

    • Geddon

But what else would you have Hazoret do but fight? Red may have other qualities, but Hazoret doesn’t. Heck, her trial is nothing but a bloodlust-fueled free-for-all melee. This fits perfectly with her, though not as perfectly as a card.

  • Happy The Cat

you know what would have been good here? bolt. hear me out, your lands dont untap seems like a big enough drawback that burn decks don’t instantly pick up 4, and while bolt is a “op” card(even though other colors have harder removal for the same price) putting it in a rare slot nerfs it for limited, plus it gives red players a reason to buy cards, outside of that legendary Minotaur.

might as well shout out Trench Gorger though, makes this thing playable in edh.

    • ymmij X

i would have liked to see 0 cost shock with lands clause over this. they could have also made this card 4 cost or made it so you exile until you find 4 viable targets

      • Hedronal

If it’s until you find N viable targets, I assume N would be less than 4.

        • ymmij X

at least a red aggro deck shouldn’t have any cards left turn 6 so this could help close out grindier games in a big red deck.

  • Kevan Kramer

Why does Wizards hate red? This card is bad even for EDH. You have to hit at least 2 cards to make this kinda of worth it.

    • MithosFall

Um, this is going STRAIGHT into my Cascade EDH deck.

      • ymmij X

you caught the nothing more than 5 clause right?

        • MithosFall

Yessir. Casting Maestrom Archangel, Maelstrom Nexus, Seedborn Muse, Time Warp, or just a good ol’ fashion Shivan Meteor off of this would be mighty nice.

          • ymmij X

is playing 1-2 of those worth skipping your next turn?

          • MithosFall

Well if I hit Seedborn Muse or Time Warp, that’s not really a problem. And in Magic, no decision to a choice should ever come without adequate thought put into it. I’m not going to cast this if I think I’ll die next turn, but in general, yes I would sacrifice a turn to bring out one of the Maelstrom cards I listed.

          • ymmij X

seedborn would be pretty great just dont forget that in a 100 card singleton deck your odds of striking gold in 4 cards isn’t great but hey commander is the format of dreams and it’s certainly in flavor for a cascade deck to play a card this chaotic.

          • Hedronal

Also good for cascade decks to play things that are easily cascaded into, which frequently are cmc 5 or less. In the case of a cascade deck, this seems like at least that limit wouldn’t be stopping it.

          • Demiurgo

You know that EDH is filled with mana rocks and full of ramp cards, right? Tapped lands for a extra turn may hurt a bit, but in most of the cases this will be really worthy.

    • Litdaze

      Narset says hi

  • Chad Piercy

    /deleted

  • Dave

Why is this so bad, why? This could’ve been a bolt-like spell with the untap clause, some great pump spell for all creatures. Not this weird stuff without a flavor text.

  • Pandancules

Im not saying this is any good, but it is the only one that feels at least interesting. The others are so bland in comparison.

    • MTG fan

      I agree

  • Alexandre Donnart

Gonna play this once, hit 4 lands and never play it again.

    • MTG fan

      That’s going to be me…

  • Deadly Berry

Was expecting more from this girl. She can’t be blamed tho, wizards is full of green players who hate red with a passion.

    • Mov

Green players hate red? I’d have thought they hate blue more than red – green beats red by just going bigger than burn.

  • Mov

So Hazoret survives? Everyone else has ‘Last’ in their relevant card.

    • Geddon

That’s a good catch. I think Hazoret will survive because at least one god needs to for the story to feel not like a total downer. I think the story might end like this: the city is laid to waste, most of the gods are dead, as are most of the residents of Amonkhet. The Gatewatch considers this to be a major loss, as no matter what the outcome of their fight with Bolas the Plane is pretty much destroyed. But there is still a little shred of hope, because Hazoret still lives, and so does Djeru, and a few people. And there are clearly lands beyond the City that could be habitable. So they press on, knowing both that the years ahead will be hard, and that there’s no other option left to them.

      • Mov

Plus yeah maybe Hazoret reverts to her role as like protector of the hearth.

        • Geddon

          Yeah! That’s great!

  • mrpimp

The shadow in the background reeks of kefnet

    • Dave

      Uhm, that’s a pretty visible scorpion stinger…

      • AndyZ

At this point the stinger reeks of Kefnet too though so…

  • ymmij X

ya know what would have been a really cool idea here? a mana burst effect. 3-4 mana for 8 or so red then your lands dont untap.

  • Demiurgo

    A Collected Company with steroids.

    • Typhuzuzu13

Actually that may be incredibly accurate.
-it’s initial ability is “stronger,” and can potentially do a lot more
-BUUUUT as time goes on prolonged use leads to nasty side effects.

  • Dr. Burn Crow

    I actually like this.

    • Chaospyke

      You’re one of few apparently.

      • Laws

        You clearly don’t play edh.

  • Jacob Kodicovic

In her final moments, Hazoret uuuused Flamethrower! It’s super effective! Scorpion God fainted. But what’s this? Nicol Bolas used a Max Revive. Scorpion God used Poison Sting! Hazoret fainted…. But she hung on using her Focus Sash!

    • Mr.Mayhem631

      A+
