• Caleb Halbrook

Geez with all this ramp I’m worried dinosaurs might be the next eldrazi winter

    • Zenbeni

They are big, but most of them don’t protect themselves, and no “discard” (Reality Smasher and Thought Knot Seer are so good), so it should be fine.

    • Marvin Sürig

I agree. Turn one this and turn two another one, the green dude who ramps or the red dude with the same ability and haste. If you get a second of this you can play a three drop turn 2 while having two 0/3. And that could be the ramp enrager o.o. Attacking turn three with the ramp enrager and you put up a lot of pressure. Than you should be able to play a five drop on turn three which is crazy as hell. If that is the Enrage Trigger Dino you even ramp for sure. Altough I’d rather play the raptor.

    • Random Guy

At least they are more diverse if it does come to that.

    • Shagoth

      1. Cost reduction doesn’t make any of them free.
      2. Said free creature doesn’t turn into your t2 play
      3. Lands are far faster and much less fair than dorks
      4. Speaking of dorks, modern is great at dealing with them. In Eldrazi winter, you’d hope to be on the play with a ghost quarter and no replacement for your opponent.
      5. Cost reduction isn’t as extreme. (Both reduce by 1 opposed to 2)
      6. Doesn’t have a new mana symbol which makes it difficult to splash in other decks, so you’re either all in Eldrazi or die.

  • galen150

correct me if im wrong, but do we have 2 different creatures that make dinos cost less? and a manadork with dino synergy??? at this point, hard casting gishath on turn 4 is possible, unlikely, but possible.

    • Moses

You can play this or the other dino-dork on turn 1/2 then on turn 3 rishkar into a turn 4 Gishath… I’ll definitely give it a try

      • galen150

i mean like 3 of the manadork and both cost reducers in a deck, then just whatever you want for dinos. do wish there were a bit more lord effect type of things for dino tribal. still, im starting to think that dinos might be alright. feel like it’ll be like werewolves from shadows, not great but alright

  • Ryan Ulrich

So is Ixalan going to have gods?

    • Marvin Sürig

The Dinos are reffered to as gods smilar to the feathered snake of the Mayas or Aztec (I don’t know which of them had it). Plus many planes have religions but not every of them has gods of flesh.

    • Demiurgo

Expect Dinos with god names, such as Gishath. Bet that will be a Legendary white dino named Kinjalli in the next set. They said there’s 3 aspects, so one for each Naya color probably.

    • Falconfly

We got the three avatars. There’s also mention of a bat-god of night.

  • MrAptronym

Wow, cost reduction on a 1 drop. No power, but toughness 3 is going to mean stalling your opponent a little better until you cast some god awful dinosaur beast to eat them. Really loving this set so far.

    • galen150

not to mention, its a common???

  • galen150

would be funny to play this turn 1, then 2 hatchlings turn 2.

    • Hedronal

Takes an untapped RW producer turn 1, so fastlands ahoy.

  • Jackson Means

Ohh no HERE is the one drop we wanted

  • Pacoqueiro

This is crazy. I mean, not even mentioning how crazy cost reduction is on a one-drop, removing this is a lost of Tempo unless you use Fatal Push (and even then, you’re just getting an even trade). I thought dinosaurs wouldn’t even make into standard, but if they give another crazy card like this and Otepec Grandmaster, they might even make it into a modern stompy/midrange deck.

  • thelordelric

this is an amazing support card, and being a common will make it a limited hero.

  • Jude

….sooo heard u wanna cast gishath turn 5 in standard

  • Ryuji Nichol Pabila

Dino stompy just got a whole lot faster. I feel like the 3 toughness also stonewalls all hope for any weenie aggro strat for getting a big enough life lead before they get jurrasic fked

    • Marvin Sürig

It’ would be fun seeing someone fatel push this turn 1 just because they need to xD

  • Hedronal

Great to get such insight into the mythos of the plane-people’s beliefs.

  • Spyboy

    Carnage Tyran T3 thanks you

  • Shagoth

Wizards, what is up with you putting the potentially most important white card in a set in a really subtle way? First Felidar Guardian and now the card that will probably make Dinos competitive more than any other card?

  • Edwin Marín Castro

Deal with the BIG dinos or use the removal for their human worshippers that make them cheaper? Control decks in standard are in trouble, serious trouble.

  • Deadly Berry

I bet Spielberg didn’t see this one coming!

  • ymmij X

    … hahahaha MUAHAHAHA AAAHAHA!!!

  • Justus Bruestle

I hate how everyone was writing off Dino’s because their Mana costs were so high. Like hello doesn’t anyone remember Eldarzi? They are still in standard right now for crying out loud. They aren’t going to make a tribe of big creatures without also releasing support cards like this.

    • scotch1337

Most Eldrazi are bombs. Most Dino’s are not. But if they are fun to play, it won’t matter.

      • Shagoth

Enough of them are bombs IMO. Also, you can have a more aggressive Eldrazi curve (in standard) as well as there being better ramp for the dinosaurs (in standard).
