at least it doesn’t say for each

  • Revotor

If only Delver of Secrets was a pirate…

  • Andrea Lanzoni

i mean… mono blue aggro pirate?

    • Marvin Sürig

split in two barals to gain extra control.

  • Santuli

Alright, so a cycle of spells that get cost reduction for controlling a creature of certain tribes? Altho the pseudo hunt the weak was in green for dinos and this in blue for pirates:..what would merfolk get?

  • Kameenook

This seems quite impressive overall. At worst it’s convolute (a worse spell shrivel), but if you add this in to a pirate deck a lot of the time you get a better mana leak.

  • kmk888

I didn’t really put a lot of stock into the tribal themes but this is certainly a great reward. This is the closest we’ve seen to Counterspell in Standard since Silumgar’s Scorn.

  • TogetherAlone

4 of these with 3 of the flying blue one drop pirate? Counters for days, sounds good to me

  • Geddon

Pirate… control? That just seems to go against what it means to be a pirate.

    • galen150

i’d say its more tempo. its like constant small raids that leave your opponent impoverished until they have nothing.

    • MrAptronym

Think about it as a pirate disrupting.

  • Julna Buras

Great. And here I thought Silumgar’s Scorn was the most frustrating tribal-counterspell. A better Mana Leak just for controlling a Pirate? Just pair this with Siren Stormtamer and your opponent won’t be able to play ANYTHING.

  • Chaospyke

Blue is just so aggressive now.
I suspect the one drop Siren to get banned.
Unless the other colors can get something to keep up.

    • Derek Niles

they are going hard on trying not to ban cards in standard so it would have to destroy the format for them to resort to that

  • Shagoth

“Yargh, we are the pirates of the ship, SST, Stupid Sounding Tribal. You may laugh at us but not only will we pillage and plunder standard, but we’ll make sure Wizards of the Coast (gon’ be OUR coast now) will never want to put control in standard again! Not because control is innately evil, but because reprinting blue legacy cards meant to play along with almost-delver-of-secrets going along with a yar two mana divination and better mana leak might be going a bit OVERBOARD! Your only hope is the wrath of the expensive but surprisingly tough looking Dinos. Surrender yeeselves before we make standard suffer.

    Your captain,
    Admiral Becket Brass
P.S. What do you mean I won’t be in my own deck because it’s gon’ be mono blue!”

  • Nick Art

    Oh boy.
