Everything about this card is beautiful; The ability, the art, the flavor text. It may be expensive but it is so good. Definitely will see commander play at least

  • Chaospyke

So want to make a deck around this but its just so expensive.

  • Jonathan Mueller

    Another EDH Mythic.

Definitely made with multiplayer in mind:
Note that it only exile the top card rather than waiting for a nonland card, *and* does not allow to play exiled lands either.

Unfortunately, that makes it pretty horrible outside of multiplayer.

  • Dr. Burn Crow

Ooooooh, that’s perfect. Need this for the deck I’m building for my wife.

  • Fbn Dnl Schlr

So you’re only able to cast the opponent’s card while the other spell he/she cast is still on the stack, right? So if you’re exiling a creature this way you are able to and have to cast it during your opponent’s turn?

    • Tolle

Not how that works. You are casting as a resolution of an ability so it gets around timing restrictions like that.

      • Mr.Mayhem631

How they described it is exactly how it works.

        • Tolle

Oh yes. Sorry. I read a negative that wasn’t there. This is what happens when you read through comments quickly at work

  • MrAptronym

Even in EDH, 7 mana is a wee bit much. I like the effect a lot though. Its a neat card, I’d like to try and find a place for it.

    • Jacob Feldman

7 mana pffff i hit that on turn 2-3 with Omanth, locus of mana(sadly this is a blue card)

      • Happy The Cat

turn 4-5 maybe, turn three seems a little impossible. plus blue has show and tell so mana costs don’t really apply to them in magic wonderland.

        • Sion

You can infinite mana by turn 3.

      • MrAptronym

I would be keenly interested in how you are making 7 mana on turn 2 without a literally perfect hand, but while ramp-centric decks can manage it quickly (My Kaseto or Thada Adel decks would probably not have too much of an issue) there is a lot to do when you have 7 mana, and I don’t think this is my number one choice. This takes some time to generate value and can wiff. at 7CMC you start hitting cards with massive immediate effects.

Not that this is unusable, and I like the little bit of random excitement it brings, but I am not sure I am sold on it yet? It has more or less a 1/3 chance of doing nothing on a turn, and that is a little painful for me?

        • Jacob Feldman

I didnt word it correctly im not making 7 mana on those turns its more of getting omnath out early with 1 or 2 mana dorks then saving mana on him

          • MrAptronym

Ahh, fair enough. I have a close friend who plays Omnath and turn 2 Omnath is something I have come to expect. (And kill.)

  • Nanya

Even Mizzex can’t cast this easily, and Mizzex can cast 3 Time Stretch for 4 mana.

    • Liam Hector

that’s impossible , 3 time stretch is minimum UUUUUU (6) .. how do you reduce the blue cost?

      • Nanya

Well, a fully-leveled Echo Mage only costs UU to copy a spell twice. Mizzex gets the cost of Time Stretch down to UU, so only UUUU to get 6 extra turns seems nice.

        • Liam Hector

i forgot that fully leveled echo mage had that effect (ive never seen it get leveled past 2-3 before it gets removed) so if you manage to fully level echo mage AND cast time stretch with ALL THE EXPERIENCE, you deserve to take ALL THE TURNS.

the fun thing would be using this enchantment against a mizzix deck.

          • Nanya

True, that would be fun. XD

And it’s not hard to have a fully leveled echo mage. Just put something more dangerous out as well, like Lighthouse Chronologist or Patron Wizard. Those will draw more hate from people. XD

  • David S. McCrae

Curse of Exhaustion + Possibility Storm + This = Absolute evil lol!!

  • Jacob Hennes

Narset, enlightened master folks. She don’t care if it’s 7 mana, because it’ll be free.

  • Arcus Diabolus

I could use this in my enchantment control deck, but thats a steep cost…

  • Jaya

OP in free for all, not that great in 1v1

  • Ryū

    Love it.

  • Tolle

Everyone here is focusing on the mana (yes it is a lot and that sucks) but most edh decks have a few cards this high. And think of the benefit. Steal away your opponents combo pieces, get their massive creatures, get rid of things you don’t want them to have. Also remember that enchantments are probably the most secure card type in edh as only white and green have reliable removal for it.

    • Arcus Diabolus

what if i told you not everyone plays edh.

      • Mack Tackleton

Almost all magic players play EDH.

        • Arcus Diabolus

          Not really…

I haven’t met anyone who plays edh in a few years now.

          • Liam Hector

yea id say about 40% of the magic base in my area atleast owns an edh deck, but this card will likely have more of an effect on edh (a more passive and often casual format with twice the life) then it will for any competitive 60 card game (doesn’t inherently do anything if your behind, and may not be all that useful even if your ahead)

its best spot will for it will probably a control mirror, but i can see it having fun interactions with ramp and Oblivion Sower.

  • Blahblahblahbla

Almost really awesome. For that mana cost it should at least say exile until non land card. Then i would definitely put it in Sen Triplets, but as is, it has like a 60% chance to do anything at all and that is only if you have mana open for it. Pretty big wiff on the design here i think.

    • Blahblahblahbla

Though i may have to run it just for the art, i mean.. Got dayumn that art is amazing!

      • MBase

Just to be clear – you don’t need to leave any mana open. What with the “you may cast it without paying its mana cost.” Unless you meant have the mana open to cast the enchantment in the first place, which is… well, pretty normal.

  • David S. McCrae

Thinking about this again, what is stopping anyone from going turbo-ramp-ing into this. Plop this sucker down on Turn 3 or 4. Proceed to protect yourself while casting spells from your opponent’s deck, using their own deck against them. And if they don’t want to play into it, force their hand with some kind of clock. I don’t know, just jogging random stuff around in my mind.

    • Blahblahblahbla

The main thing stopping that is that it only gives you a spell 60% of the time. 40% of the time you are exiling lands. In standard it sucks because if your opponent has the upper hand on board state, they don’t even need to cast spells and allow this to trigger since you’re leaving your mana open instead of casting spells, hoping to utilize this.

      • David S. McCrae

You don’t need to leave your mana open. You cast their spells for free. ^.^
You’d be able to use your own mana to keep their board under control.

      • Andrew

For what? why do I need mana open to cast without paying the mana cost?

    • Liam Hector

this might bring U/G ramp back into the spotlight.

  • Bige Boiy

Note: you don’t need to cast the exiled card. If you exile an important combo piece you might want to just leave it in exile

  • Happy The Cat

for when you are a mono blue elitist yet you need actually good big creatures to box with other decks yet your play group doesn’t allow Bribery effects

  • Andy Upton

    edh
    gooold

  • Robert FakeLastName

Must have this card. EDH will never be the same. Also this has a pretty neat interaction if an opponent plays lots of counter spells. opp cast spell trigger reveal counterspell. use counter on the spell that triggered the enchantment.

  • Deadly Berry

This card is so amazing, a must have for any EDH running blue, seven mana is easy to pay. Considering 5 other guys playing spells each round, if they don’t have a way to fix their top you’ll be enjoying lots of goodies passively.

  • Liam Hector

nice sequel to Mind’s Desire, its costly even for edh, but given that its a multiplayer format, your usually going to have 3+ triggers turn cycle, usually more … which even if it only hits 60% of the time is a huge value.

  • Rovkir Hexus

Want. Mill + Stealing is what I do in EDH.

  • Kahai

Perfect when you play UR mess with everything EDH. :3 Right along side Possibility Storm and Wild Evocation this is greatness! :D

  • Edward

On the spoiler page for this on the Wizards website it says that this isn’t the work of some halfwit Stitcher which makes me think Ludevic is responsible for this but that could just be them saying that for Innistrad theme. I guess we will have to see but I really hope it is.

  • Chaospyke

Might I add that this foolishness stacks.
