• Annonymous

Might be good in the atraxa edh deck

    • Jonathan

      Might is an understatement.

  • Kaiser

NOOOOOO why you joining to Jace BFF party?

  • 6ColorMage

Bant Superfriends is probably definitely gonna be a thing. Oath of Nissa, Oath of Ajani into a 4 drop planeswalker on turn 3… dreams will be nightmares.

    • Pandancules

Turn three Kiora into turn four Ajani?

      • 6ColorMage

Sure. Or just go with 3 an 4 mana PWs and you can protect them with Negates. Only issue is if Call of the Gatewatch will be a thing or not.

        • Togethralone

The math is so bad for that card it will never be a thing. you need to run like 18+ walkers to make it work properly.

          • D-Man

I run 17 walkers and 11 oaths ( soon to be 15) in my standard deck it works great, this will only make it better.

          • 6ColorMage

He was talking about Call of the Gatewatch. Which right now is unplayable since it is really a 6 mana card at best (3 to get a PW, and minimum 3 to cast it.) With this Oath it turns it into a 5 mana card. In theory it would be used to cherry pick the right walker for the right job (need a board wipe, grab a Chandra, need spot removal, get Ob Nix, etc.). I think it is still too slow and clunky but now there is a reason to at least playtest it. The fact that you’d be pulling 2 to 4 Walkers for it may or may not be efficient as well. I still think it deserves consideration if Superfriends is gonna be a thing,

      • Zombie

Turn 1 Oath of Nissa, Turn 2 Oath of Ajani, Turn 3 Gideon, Opponent scoops because LOL WHAT’S A HERO’S DOWNFALL STANDARD DOESN’T NEED ANSWERS LOL.

        • Dave

          Ruinous Path

          • Zombie

Because “Strictly Worse Hero’s Downfall” is what we all need in our lives of Standard being dominated by 4 cards.

2 of which Ruinous Path doesn’t even deal with. Another 1 it barely even manages to handle.

          • Dave

“There is an answer but it’s not the answer I want”

          • Zombie

“There are terrible answers that don’t prevent the best decks from dominating everything, give us more answers please”

            FTFY

        • Dave

To the Slaughter, Negate, Stasis Snare, Disallow, etc. Green is effed though.

  • D-Man

My super friends/tokens deck just found the missing piece of awesomeness it needed.
Hands down my favorite card of the set so far.

    • Diego

      IKR!
Nowadays I just wonder how gonna be the next oaths

      • D-Man

I hope the bad guys have there own set of evil oaths….. oath of bolas and such would be awesome….

    • Zombie

It’s coincidentally also Standard player’s least favorite card of the set.

They get to have fun playing against Turn 3 Gideon for almost another year.

Tbh unless Wizards starts printing answers in Standard again like Hero’s Downfall, I’m gonna bet Modern overtakes Standard as the most popular format in 2017.

There’s only so many games you can tolerate scooping because you can’t deal with a Turn 3 Gideon or just scoop to Marvel decks plopping Emrakul on you Turn 4.

  • Jacob Bachand

Maybe Abzan in standard? 2 mana Lilianas and 3mana Gideons. 5mana sorin, 4 mana ob nixilus?

    • 6ColorMage

I think Bant is more viable since you can protect walkers better with blue spells… but with Oath of Nissa you can still play Lilly, Sorin and Ob Nix. Maybe you can just go 4 or 5 color with Aether Hubs and enemy fast lands. It’ll be fun brewing around this card.

  • Ryū

Finally, someone more entertaining joins the Gatewatch.

  • Diego

I just want to pee so bad right now <3

    • Jackson Means

I’m sorry for your suffering! Internet but no bathroom is such a sign of our time…

  • Derek Niles

I love this card but can the Jacestic League thing please just move on. I’m sure the next set will be them again because they’re up agianst Bolas

    • NC

You mean the entire path the MtG crew has decided to follow for the story for the foreseeable future based off of market research?

    • Derek Mullins

Yeah; I hate to break it to you, but this is the plan for the forseeable future and beyond. MaRo has stated that the love they’re receiving far outweighs the dislike, so it’s probably going to stay.

    • bentheechidna

It’s not that Jacestic League. Seriously why is there so much hate for Jace? His number of appearances only increased after the change, and people were complaining about him long before the change in story.

    • Dave

Every next set will be them in some capacity.

    • Kevan Kramer

Not going to happen. So get over it or keep complaining about it

  • Han Solo II

    Awesome it doesn’t have “if a Planeswalker…”

  • Nanya

Curses! My Superfriends deck is running out of space for modification!
    Must get this in there!
Good thing it’s just a rare and not a Mythic.

  • HeartlessGeneral

Planeswalkers or not, I want to see a group of evil planeswalkers or y’know, something cooler? if anything I just want to see one member of the gatewatch die, hopefully jace :I

    • 6ColorMage

Can Lili raise him and turn him into Jace, Mind Eater?

      • HeartlessGeneral

        That sounds good :D

      • Jackson Means

        That’s would be amazing

      • Hedronal

See the 2016 comic con promos.

    • Jonathan

I think you’ll get your evil planeswalker group in the next block.

      • HeartlessGeneral

I’ve heard little bits and rumors, I know Bolas will be there, Ijust hope that for right now, they don’t actually KILL Tezzy ;n; I like him XD

    • bentheechidna

Jace hate is unwarranted. Gideon is the most likely to die. He’s the stereotypical do-gooder paladin type.

Tezzeret won’t die. He has to survive to retreat to warn Bolas as well as give them cause to chase.

      • HeartlessGeneral

It is warranted, for me…..and apparently other people, I just REALLY hate jace, unconditionally, I read about him a bit, I see his art, And a single thought goes through my head:
“I hate your everloving guts Jace”
And have not bothered to change my views on him yet….it’s just one of those things where you just know you hate a character.

True to that, it makes sense…. and if he makes his way into hiding on Amonkhet, I kinda hope to see at least a little flavor from him

        • Grant Hoggan

          Ral Zarek? Is that you?

    • Deadly Berry

He’s annoying, meddling and a know-it-all pest. I also wish he’d die but Wizards has invested too much on him. I remember when Planeswalkers used to die, now they just stomp everything and it ain’t fun.

  • That Guy

    -2 cmc
    – buffs all your creatures on etb
    – reduces PW cost…

    …UGHHHHHHHHH…

I jizzed in my pants. (the song was legit going though my head)

    • Zombie

My audible “UGHHHHHHHHH” wasn’t so much for excitement as “I’m really glad I stopped playing Standard”

    • Matt Salvia

      The Lonely Island song?

      • That Guy

        Yes

  • Shagoth

Oh his really good card, I think this will be the best oath next to Nissa’s.

  • MachSpeedRocket .

I don’t see why people hate Jace so much.

    • Fael

You must read the story of return to ravnica.

      • Kevan Kramer

Jace has gotten better since that story.

      • MachSpeedRocket .

I have. It was kitschy, but it wasn’t that bad. And it’s not even like he’s stagnated since then in how they treat him. Every fictional character with multiple writers has been in some dumb storylines, it doesn’t mean the character is awful, just the story.

    • Deadly Berry

Mascots are meant to be hated. Spam too. Jace is both.

    • Shagoth

At best he’s kind of boring but still seemingly forced, at worst he’s a completely unsympathetic, borderline sociopathic, jerk who doesn’t have much of a moral code or emotion. In the past, he has embodied everything about blue, and though it’s a flagship color, personality and character wise, there is nothing to connect to a rule bound and seemingly emotionless character who is run almost exclusively by logic. And this is the main character. At least he’s gotten better recently, because he HAS to.

  • Fael

Will the super friends find an unexpected ally in each plane until a ravnican cycle of oaths is completed?

    • Jakob Schneider

      Looks like it.

I guess they’ll continue to get one or two dual-colored allies in each block.

Who knows, maybe we’ll even get Oath of Saheeli, too.

    • Dave

Honestly I can never see a black-red oath happening. Those planeswalkers are erratic as heck, yo.

      • eltratzo

you mean all two of them of which one seems helbent to try new colours with every printing and the other one only exists in supplementaly products? yeah those two seem like bad candidates for an oath and yeah that combination doesn’t really lend it self to protagonists. but they might well introduce a new rakdos coloured walker somewhere down the line that might be more suited to taking an oath (though the commitment of vowing something is pretty much the opposite of what r/b does)

        • Dave

Yeah, I didn’t necessarily mean the existing Walkers. It’s just as you said, that r/b is simply the opposite of “taking a vow”. It would end up being the same as Liliana’s vow. Joining to further their own goals or something.
Well, maybe we get the EPA (Evil Planeswalker Association) that have their own vows. :)
Or Tybalt ends up a good guy and joins the Gatewatch (read somewhere that he’s likely to reappear as r/b).

          • eltratzo

that tibalt thing is mostly players wishes as far as I know. and something like lili would be fine as long it is written well and there are not to many of them in the watch. (I consider most of lilianas “I am so evil and I totall don’t have a crush on jace. seriously. you have to believe me. I’m not lieing. not at all.”-antics to be hilarious.)

          • Kevan Kramer

Lilly doesn’t view herself as evil. Also Jace and Lilly are exes, but there are hints that they still care for each.

          • eltratzo

she kind of does.or rather has a pathological need to explain in great detail in her mental monologes that she is doing everything she does for selfish reasons and not because she is growing to like the other walkers (this was absurdly pronounced in the story that set the kaladesh arc in motion). and no she is not attracted to jace anymore. she just needs him to need her. she was very clear on that. so clear she repeated it 5-10 times in one story. ^^

        • Hedronal

Red tends away from laws, but many red people still have some rules that they go by, and most people in mtg have things that they consistently value to make an oath centered on. It’s getting the black part to care about taking initiative on others’ behalf that’s the hard part. That said, black values personal responsibility, so maybe someone who tries to bring (or force) that out in others.

    • eltratzo

I really don’t consider ajani unexpected. the timing maybe. but as far as motivations are concerned there are few known poeple more in line with the mission statement of the gatewatch than ajani

    • Hedronal

If so, the second set is the pattern. It might not be restricted to one or two colors though, and maybe there would be multiple in monocolor. Also who knows what it’ll be like if someone *leaves* the Gatewatch.

  • Jakob Schneider

I’m surprised to see Ajani join the Gatewatch.

I was convined it would be the five mono-colored walkers only; none of those that changed their color identity throughout various printings (in the case of Ajani: white to red-white to green-white).

    • eltratzo

while he is the first non monocoloured one he is: one of the lorwynn five, one of the walkers with the most different printings (7 including aether revolt) has had an important part in multiple storylines and has always been one of the most notoric do-gooders in the multiverse. there are very few people with stronger motivation to join the watch than him.

    • Kevan Kramer

Why would they limit it to only characters? That is just stupid as hell. MaRo said more PWs can join the Gatewatch

    • Hedronal

Ajani has been seen on various planes, helping people deal with planar threats. That’s like the Gatewatch mission statement.

Also, technically Ajani Vengeant is the first chronologically, so red-white to white to green-white in cards. There’s also what he was before the cards, so w-rw-w-gw, and if core sets count, w-rw-w-gw-w-gw.

    • Shagoth

They said they’d add characters gradually.

  • Alexander Malinin (Cfyz)

To balance things out we also need a cycle of legendary curse enchantments with bad guys giving thumbs down on the pictures.

    • Evil Tactics

An evil planeswalker pact dedicated to bringing down the Gatewatch and anything good in the multiverse? A legendary enchantment from Nicol Bolas… yum.

    • Dave

I really hope that we get some SInister Six thing going at some point.

  • Jakob Schneider

Anyone else noticed how defined Ajani’s pecs are here compared to his depiction in his two planeswalker cards in this set?

    • Evil Tactics

Not just that, notice the veins on his biceps? It’s as if the moment he knew he was getting an Oath card he had to start working out more.

  • hsh

…i want it on the table that i hear mufasa as ajani forever in my head….and this is totally a quote he would say

    • eltratzo

from his position in his original block he is closer to scar than mufasa. still one of the most archetypical good guys magic has ever had.

      • Hedronal

At least he does get issues about things, like friends dying. Too archetypal and they’re mentally immune to everything.

        • eltratzo

well yeah, which is why he is one of my favourite walkers and not a character I loathe. but by now ajanis story has had enough abuse, betrayal and death of friends and family for 5 villain origins. ajani however seems to get even more of a good guy the more bad things happen to him.

          • Hedronal

It doesn’t seem like nearly so much to me, last I knew he’d been in the story for Shards (including his origin), and Theros. That’s one home/family lost, one brother, and one Elspeth. Still a lot of course. A little more if you count whomever he knew on Mirrodin.

          • eltratzo

Don’t forget that the one who murdered his brother was the only other person in his pride who accepted him as well as his mentor as the prides shaman and healer.

          • Hedronal

Good point, but still in one or two villain origin zone.

    • Hedronal

I must now memorize their voices together.

  • Alex Egertsen

Atraxa Superfriends just got another boost. I hate fighting superfriends in commander so much because of the bs ults that go off

  • Fred Weasley

Looks like I just found a new friend! We’re gonna travel and do all sorts of things together, just you and me, Ajani… and 56 other cards.

  • Zombie

Superfriends Atraxa players just lost their minds.

We’re gonna need a splooge cleanup on aisle 4.

    • Brian Schmidt

But it’s rather funny that we instantly go to Commander with this card. It’s a pretty good card don’t get me wrong but probably not playing this in Standard unless they are trying to make Superfriends a deck in Standard.

      • Zombie

No one cares about Standard because it’s a mess right now.

All this means is Turn 3 Gideons and then pump your whole team for G/W late game. Oh boy, a card everyone hates gets to come out a turn earlier, WE’RE ALL SO EXCITED. What’s that? 2/3 Inspectors? Pump your whole team for G/W? Gideon only costs 1WW now?

Yeah no that doesn’t seem problematic at all. Of course this is going to be good in Standard. It’s singlehandedly the best Oath they’ve printed, and even Oath of Nissa is eating its dust.

But it’s STANDARD, aka, “Everyone’s going to be forced to play against Gideon/Copter/Marvel/Ishkanah for months on end until you decide to blow your brains out or sell your Standard cards”.

Perfect example of one of the many reasons I no longer play Standard.

        • Hedronal

I’d like to be sure of the comparison, what’s your exact breakdown of this vs Oath of Nissa?

          • Zombie

Oath of Nissa can miss, it could hit something sub-optimal, or it could force something you need to the bottom like putting baby in the corner.

Oath of Ajani has zero downside beyond being multicolor.

Worst case scenario: Oath of Ajani is played on Turn 2 and you don’t have a creature in play. You then play Gideon or Tamiyo on Turn 3.

        • Togetheralone

Oath of nissa is way better by far. Its green ponder with upside.

          • Zombie

            1. Comparing Oath of Nissa to Ponder is like comparing a spoon to a grenade launcher

            2. It is literally not Ponder with upside.

          • Evan Dischinger

Its ponder in the same way that essence scatter is mana drain.

  • kasigah

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANT

  • Avery Standley

    Welcome to the Club!

    • Brian Schmidt

Who is next in line? Tibalt?

      • Happy The Cat

at the beginning of your upkeep draw two cards and then discard three at random. whenever you play a pw gain control of target creature until end of turn, it gains haste.

  • Dave

Best Oath right out of the gate.

    • Brandon William Burk

      Get out

      • Dave

Which one do you think is better? Nissa’s comes close but the other ones, MEH. This one has an awesome ETB trigger and a very relevant second ability not dependent on having planeswalkers enter the battlefield but helping to cast them instead.

        • Brian Schmidt

Nissa is good and so is Lilliana and this one seems ok. The problem is the ETB can be amazing if you have a lot of creatures or just meh. Then you have the ability to have PWs cost one less which is nice too. And to top things off the cheesy quote as the text. I feel I went a little off tangent, but needless to say, at first glance, it seemed alright but once again, something I don’t see anywhere besides commander as a super friends deck or some Bant or Selesnya PWs deck.

          • Kevan Kramer

This is good enough to see Standard play if G/W/X make a come back

          • Hedronal

Superfriends is a thing in Magic Duels.

  • Insight66

GET READY FOR YOUR FORTHCOMING IZZET OATH LADS

    • Brian Schmidt

Who would it be though? Ral?

      • Dave

        Saheeli…

  • Brian Schmidt
    • Togetheralone

kind of? however elspeth is dead, Tez is on his side and idk about sarkhan

      • Happy The Cat

sarkhan was his servant but now he’s kind of just gone home? we didn’t hear anything after khans.
also Elspeth is almost assuredly coming back as an undead. wizards just wont be able to pass up on that *gasp* “she died but it was theros so she became one of those masked zombies and we only found out it was her because broke the mask!”
calling it now, if the gatewatch go to fight bolas in the next set he will have a female servant wearing a golden mask.

  • Deadly Berry

The ETB ability is horrific, but the cost reduction makes up for it. The cost of the card is another plus, it won’t interfere with a Planeswalker cast since almost all of them have 3 or more cost. On a side note, Christmas is coming, are we going to have an assortment of Gatewatch toys? Please no.

    • Kevan Kramer

The ETB ability is amazing. That is why this card is good both late and early game.

  • Bob

Ok, sweet 2 drop Oath. But! What is that robot bug thing in the background?

  • Bob

Hmm looks like his head got smaller! And he looks younger and he’s shaved that goatee he was sporting on the Steadfast card. Must be tricky shaving when ur covered in hair/fur not to go too far and leave bald patches.

  • Edwin Marín Castro

The League of Justice has become bigger.

    • Aj

Welcome to the club Beast Boy

      • Bob

Hey, so an oath of Karn next?? 2 drop etb: exile target nonland permanent, search for an artifact and put it in your hand.

        • Norsdef

          All oath cards are planeswalker-based.

Despite that I doubt Karn will return to join the Gatewatch…

          • Minizem

            … Karn is a planeswalker.

          • Norsdef

I mean that their abilities are focused in pwcards. Like “Whenever a Planeswalker enters the battlefield..” or “Planeswalker spells you cast…”

        • Shagoth

Two mana to utter end and fabricate?
That sounds kind of tough. Like, might get banned in Legacy, Modern and Standard.

  • kylc

so will we see oaths for the other color duos now?

    • Hedronal

When there’s planeswalkers in those colors that join the Gatewatch, yes. Until then no, like how it took two sets to add a black oath.

      • Norsdef

Also, thinking in all the others planeswalker that already have a card, I just can imagine Narset becoming a Gatewatch

        • Bob

He kinda was part of a pop group saving the multiverse ages ago, with venser n co. He could teach the new band a few things

          • Hedronal

            Who are you talking about?

          • eltratzo

koth or, if he still lives having lost his spark, teferi would fit his description. Edit. karn might kinda fit. even if he and venser barely ever worked together.

          • Wildspeaker

Also Garruk and Ajani. (Ajani saved Alara from Bolas almost singlehandedly, and Garruk rescued his entire plane.)

          • Norsdef

            Garruk is totally insane, now.
I don’t think he’ll join the GW before get free from his curse

          • Hedronal

Teferi was still human after losing his spark during the mending, and it’s been about one hundred years since then, so he’s not necessarily still alive. He’s a temporal mage, so he could still be around, but it would take a reason at least.

          • eltratzo

the age thing was what I meant with the “if he is still alive”. where do you get the “about 100 years” thing from? I’m aware it has been quite some time, but from what we know from the liliana stories human post mending walker age mostly normaly and venser, who only recently (a few years or so) died was not that much older than when he was part of the mending.

          • Norsdef

            Narset??
            I thought was Elspeth

        • Hedronal

Narset might, but I’d put her in a similarly noncommittal position to Tamiyo.

Looking at the list of current planeswalkers, Domri would need a character arc to determine what of anything he’d do, Elspeth with her current character would join, Ral or Saheeli might with a reason, Sarkhan might if Narset did.

Other than those seven and the current six, those remaining wouldn’t due to reasons ranging from having their own interests (Kaya and Kiora for instance), to death (Venser), to ancient things to do (Karn, Ugin, Sorin), it being against their interests (Bolas, Nixilis, Vraska, etc) and to insanity like Garruk.

          • Grant Hoggan

Elspeth is dead, I hope this doesn’t come as too much of a shock to you.

          • Hedronal

Elspeth died on one of the few planes where undeath can include keeping your personality, and has been confirmed to be working on a means for doing so. She’s not someone we can fully count out yet.

    • MTGFanatic

how about colorless, like Ugin or Karn?

I would love to see their oath.

  • Blahblahblahbla

He swore an oath to do infinite sit-ups apparently. #sixpackenvy

  • Ryuji Nichol Pabila

I always imagine ajani speaking with the voice of that narnia lion thing

    • Melissa Juice

      …Jesus?

      • Wildspeaker

Aslan. Or in other words, Jesus.

  • Fobatore

“…Bolas’s place being 6 feet deep.”

  • Tezzybros

You know what Ajani’s axe reminds me of?
    Grognak the barbarian
    #falloutreference

    • Happy The Cat

I mean not really, this has a curved handle and the only part of the actual axe head that we can see is a large dropped point. grognak’s is a very vanilla war axe and this isnt.

      • Tezzybros

Sad tezzeret is now sad. (≋ᗝ≋)

  • Jonathan

Hmm… two new GW Ajani cards and a GW Ajani oath. I guess Ajani is going to be the GW planeswalker going forward, which is a little odd considering he was the original white planeswalker and was WR before he was GW. Still, it seems fitting.

    • Happy The Cat

well I think it’s so he’s the opposite of bolas. them sharing red just felt a little odd. seeing as they are fully nerfing red and they don’t want to leave green out of whatever duel decks come out of ajani vs bolas someone was going to have to change, and it wasn’t going to be the grixian elder dragon

  • Happy The Cat

I dont agree with this weird sexualization of ajani. there is no reason for a cat to have abs like that. look at real lions, 6 feet long but weigh 400+ pounds without being fat. dont see them with six packs. he’s also lost a LOT of bulk since no longer being red, go back and look at some of the alara block art for him, dude was huge. now he looks the size of gideon even. I thought green was supposed to be the color of big and bulky.

    • Insight66

You’re saying you want a standing lion with a massive beer gut?

      • Bostorket

You’d think that’d be Brimaz, ten years after losing his kingdom and living in a trailer park due to child support payments for the thousands of kittens he’s sired.

    • Melissa Juice

      *yawn*

    • Shagoth

Hm, a comment complaining about the sexualization of a male character. Never thought I’d see that.
Also, I don’t think it’s too over sexualized. It’s not really emphasized in some weird pose or anything. It’s weird though that a cat has abs. So, I mean, I guess it could be a lil fanservicy

      • Hedronal

If that’s the fanservice, I’ll take it.

        • Jay Kilian

Showed this card to my cat. She was not impressed.

    • Minizem

He is literally a cat person that has been fighting the entirety of his adult life. I would be surprised if he didn’t have a 6-pack.

    • Gareth Martin

Ajani isn’t a lion. he’s a leonin. Do u complain about this on the half nude female art?

      • Happy The Cat

actually, yes I do when it’s a race that does’t need to be a model in cat cosplay. Leonin are bipedal cats with opposable thumbs btw, meaning they should still have most characteristics that a cat would have, like looser skin that wouldn’t show muscle through it even close to this bad.
my problem with this card is that it makes him look like a human dressed like a lion instead of a lion that became human-like. someone down below this posted the conflux set art, go look at ajani in that and then tell me he should be that skinny.( hint, he’s the giant white mass in the lower middle)

        • Hedronal

This is not the first time Ajani’s weight or width have fluctuated, it goes both ways. Also from Alara, see Ajani Vengeant.

  • D-Man

    Turn 1 oath of Nissa
    Turn 2 oath of ajani
Turn 3 play Chandra torch of defiance, plus 1 play lillianna
Turn 4 play Gideon ally of zendikar and nahiri the harbringer
    Ohhh I can’t wait for this……

    • Jazzyboy1

Doesn’t quite work, sorry. Chandra’s +1 doesn’t let you play Lili for free. “You pay the costs for the exiled card if you cast it. You may pay alternative costs such as emerge rather than the card’s mana cost.”

      • Derek Gooding (TuberTugger)

No but she can make 2 mana. And Lilly would cost 2 + the oath let’s you use any coloured mana.

        Sorry

        • Jazzyboy1

Oooooh, I completely missed that. My bad. Thanks for the clarification.

    • Zombie

Or just Turn 3 Gideon, which is what’s going to happen in every single G/W/X deck in Standard.

Turn 3 Gideon = Have Ruinous Path or To the Slaughter or scoop.

      • D-Man

My 5 color super tokens deck can turn 3 Gideon but if I’m playing against a control deck I would rather drop Chandra and Lilly 3rd turn to bait out the removal if they have it then I drop Gideon 4th turn with a negate in my hand and the mana to cast it.

        • Tony Ellison

Turn 3 Gideon makes more sense off the simple fact that it is 2 cards that are easily run as 4 of”s and won’t hate having a double of either or both in their firsthe bunch of cards. Your mindset banks on the idea of having a 4 caRd “combo” in your first 10 or 11 cards depending on whether you’re on the play or draw and not factoring mulligans. At which point if you want to increase the likelihood of this happening you have to have 16 of your nonlands be 4 of these 4 cards and absolutely HAVE to have oath of nissa to fix the mana. Something that mattered far less when splashing Chandra in G/Wednesday tokens because that was a 6 drop that could play in the very late game and serve its purpose because of what it was included for

          • D-Man

My alternative to not having oath of Nissa would be aether hubs and attune with the aether. Works very well actually, still happens first turn and digs for the color I need. But all aside that opening hand is living the dream, and the fact that it can happen makes me want to play it.

          • Tony Ellison

The concept is powerful enough it still might work I just try to avoid thinking of the dream draws. Either way I think this card will be a powerhouse in a Naya or Abzan she’ll that can either be heavy creature or heavy planes walker builds most likely with vehicles peppered in

        • Tony Ellison

Add in the fact you want to bait removal to use 2 more cards out of your first 12 cards and have 3 land and you now want 10 ofor your first 12 to be perfect… you are going to lose a lot of games waiting for your perfect case I’m sorry to say

  • chad

turn 3 oath would have been broken, but turn two will seriously put your opponent on a clock.

  • mtgtmgas

    we need:
    B – instant
destroy traget enchantment, it controler loses 1 life for each color it had :D

    • Tolle

No… we don’t need that. That isn’t even in color pie

    • Gareth Martin

I recommend learning the basics of the colour pie.

    • Kaiser

Black mana dealt with enchantments?…not thanks i like mi sign color getting stronger in other forms

      • Happy The Cat

I mean they do have Anguished Unmaking.

    • Scathain

Black enchantment removal should be pretty weak, due to the color pie. Perhaps something more like:
      1B – sorcery
As an additional cost, sacrifice a creature. Destroy target enchantment. Lose life equal to its converted mana cost.

  • madmanic

“Until i have an 8-Pack, I will keep watch”

  • kmk888

My poor tabby just got self conscious and developed an eating disorder

All jokes aside this card is nuts. It’s like a bird that can’t be bolted and is actually a great top deck late in the game. I don’t like GW but I welcome it back as the big dumb creature deck of choice. T3 Gideon is a hell of a drug

  • Scathain

Too good. Even without the second ability would have been worthwhile. I am getting tired of seeing all this planeswalker synergy, its not like planeswalkers would be unplayable without it.
