• TheFullMontzy

Is it sad that this is the invention that I’m most excited about?!

    • Taxle

ikr?! I want it so bad!

    • austin wilburn

nah, i totally agree, when i saw it, i was just like “aww ornithopter, my little buddie”

  • Zombie

Wow, didnt see this one coming at all

    • BusinessmanGinger

I didn’t either, same with Grindstone and Black Vise.

      • Zombie

Grindstone sure is a weird one.

But, hey, they put Mind’s Eye and Static Orb in Kaladesh’s Inventions, so there were bound to be some oddballs this time around too.

        • Ryan Ross

Someone, somewhere, will pull Painter’s Servant and Grindstone in the Aether Revolt prerelease, it is going to happen,..

  • Kire

I know, it’s beautiful, but really?? There wasn’t anything better than this?

    • Gareth Martin

People want it. Isn’t that enough?

    • austin wilburn

i think its perfect, to me; master pieces should be the small things, like the difference between a necklace from walmart vs Kay, both serve the same purpose but one is much nicer, i “sigh” a little when i see stuff like sundering titan or platinum angel because just favor wise there already big and huge(there own master piece, in a worldly lore way), so i think masterpieces are little diamonds for people to have

of course this is just a opinion

  • Pandancules

My luck this will be the first and only masterpiece I get

  • Blahblahblahbla

This is going to crash the price of Ornithopters. Better sell em while you can.

  • Jakob Schneider

(And, considering some are disappointed by this: I’m saying this unironically.
In fact, this is the one invention I was hoping for the most.)

Getting an ultra premium version of a card that’s been widely available in regular sets is a great option for an invention if it’s as commonly seen and infamous as Ornithopter.

    • Jakob Schneider

And let’s not forget that it fits perfectly in terms of lore and remember Mirrodin’s flavor text:

»Regardless of the century, plane, or species, developing artificers never fail to invent the ornithopter.«

Would have been a real shame to _not_ see this guy on Kaladesh!

      • Aurore

The one regret is that this one doesn’t have that flavor, as it’s perfect for Kaladesh.

        • Jakob Schneider

A slightly altered version of the Mirrodin flavor text, or one that’s a nod to it, would have been perfect :D

  • Happy The Cat

honestly? kind of prefer the old art more.
it’s an okay card that sees some play thanks to that mana cost but I’d rather have thopter assembly or something.(as an invention at least)

    • gah

      Sees “some” play?

      It’s a staple in Affinity/Robots in Modern, Legacy, and Pauper… -_-

  • chad

ornithopter is has reached mythic status!!! muahahaha….it will not tank the price of the old ones as this is much more rare.

  • Derek Niles

Is it bad that I sorta want this more than any of the other ones?

    • BusinessmanGinger

Nope, if that is what you like, I have no problem with that. Now if you were to get something terrible that you didn’t want that would be hilarious XD.

  • lonewolf

I can imagine ppl opening +2 boxes to get only this invention card….

    • sansmyhands

This will probably end up being the most expensive of any of them after a time.

      • lonewolf

knowing fickle mtg market it’s quite possible XD

  • Bostorket

  • Mr.Mayhem631

Watch me open this. Watch it.

    • StuffandThangs

And why would that be a bad thing? The card is going to be extremely sought after by Modern Affinity players. This will easily, easily be worth money.

      • Mr.Mayhem631

Probably still not worth as much as the Swords or a lot of other ones.

I get it’s a first world problem, but if I get one this’ll be it.

And a uncommon Version also in set?!?
