Even this set’s hidden, mysterious pillars look bright and vibrant. Great job, Wizards!

    • Alex

I agree, and am glad we are getting such a colorful set. I bet this is probably intentional as they knew Amonkhet would feature a lot of drab, desert color.

  • Ubu

I can see this been played in tribal commander, but not much more, it’s a cheaper manalith but only for a specific creature type.

  • magicalfollower

The Ur-Dragon(or any 5 color tribal commander) certainly wants a card like this.

    • JD Farrell

Plenty of two colour tribes want this, especially non-Green. Once you’re three or more colours it’s an auto include in tribal commander.

      • Hedronal

Commander can generally afford to wait for one of the numerous cmc 3 mana rocks that get any color with some various upside.

        • JD Farrell

Then why do people play Fellwar Stone, a similar rock that can’t be controlled.

          • Hedronal

Because that consistently gets 3+ colors of mana, which can be used on any cost instead of just certain creature spells.

It’s not strictly better than this, but I’d certainly call it superior. Play experience and/or a lot of other peoples’ experience shared with this may lower that amount though.

  • Random Guy

Compare to Springleaf Drum. Better if your deck has lots of blockers, or haste creatures, or turns on which you only play one creature, or Derevi, and you’re willing to pay +1 CMC for the synergy. I’m gonna say Standard tribal staple, modern fringe play.

  • Jonathan Reynolds

    My sliver deck thanks you.

  • galen150

well, this gonna see a whole buncha play if any tribals take off

  • Evil Tactics

It won’t find a home in every tribal deck, but it’ll be a very welcome to many, especially those fringe casual tribal decks. Solid tribal support for 2 mana.

  • Julna Buras

Dinosaur ramp decks are going to be a thing. Calling it now.

  • Vizzerdrix

The multicolor decks will prob consider it but it also doesn’t really give much incentive, a fellwar stone or the multiple 3 drop mana rocks including chromatic lantern which is imo the best thing ever would be better

  • Deadly Berry

In EDH, I only see this getting played in +4 colors tribal decks; for your 3 or less colors tribal there are plenty of other choices that don’t restrict the mana produced to only creatures.

    • Happy The Cat

I could see this easly beating out most three mana rocks for most tribal decks. two mana means this can also line up with a massive Sol Ring start as well. I’d go as far as this is the power level of a signet only tribes can play.

    • Nharzhool

      3 or fewer colors*

Easy rule: “fewer” is for countable things: cars, hats, colors, etc. Whereas, “less” is for uncountable things: “sugar”, “sand”, “milk”.

      • Deadly Berry

  • Hedronal

    Rad art, meh card.

    • Kahai

five color creature support is always welcomed by me. >_<

  • Robert FakeLastName

a super mind stone for tribal only decks…Yas!
