• Teddy Gillespie

LOL this hurts to look at it’s so bad

    • Shawn Michael Diaz

It’s kinda hilarious that it singlehandedly beats some specific combo decks like Storm+Grapeshot or Seismic Swan Hunt

      • Aurore

If this actually makes it into play before a storm deck has killed you, they aren’t playing a storm deck. I don’t know what they think they’re playing, but it’s not a storm deck.

        • Shawn Michael Diaz

Lol true. Both decks are faster than this card tbh

  • Shagoth

    Lameo.

  • Annonymous

Should have cost 2 or 3 mana

    • Ryan Cameron

Yeah it costs way too much.

      • Aarhg

Two mana would probably be a little too good though.

        • Ryan Cameron

          I wasn’t the one suggesting 2, more like 3 I suppose.

          • Aarhg

Yea, three would have been fine I think.

          • KÖLLEWOOD (MOBIL)

Not on this slot – as rare it would push the wrong decks

    • Zombie

The only thing it should have been is ‘never created’.

    • Thomas Luffman

At 3 mana it would be rare.and would bring back turbo fog as a deck in standard. At 2 it would be broken. Also at 5 it follows
one of R&D’s rules that 2 generic mana is generally worth 1 colored mana.

      • Thomas Luffman

It probably would have been fine at 2WW though

        • KÖLLEWOOD (MOBIL)

But so its splashable on Draft

  • Kumrag

    WEW

  • Zombie

Just when I think all of the garbage had been spoiled already and we were gettin to the good stuff.

This poor liitle downy baby had to waddle along and disappoint us all.

Wizards, you should be ashamed of yourselves for creating this. Literally. Ashamed.

    • Michael Pepin

Dude, quit whining already. You sound like a brat.

      • Dunkelmassen

This dude has almost 5,000 comments asserting that he knows better than all the people at Wizards, that his play
style is the best style, and that magic cards should lose all subtlety and become all “good cards.”

        • Zombie

It’s almost like I’ve been typing cynival comments on this site for a couple years now or something.

Something fun to do to kill time.

Inb4 pointless white knight bandwagon shows up with their playskool pitchforks.

      • MTG fan

Thank god. I thought I was the only one thinking he sounded like one. In my opinion, he IS ONE.

        • Zombie

Didn’t realize you could trigger so many people at once by telling someone to stop maindecking Dispel as a joke.

I hope someone doesn’t tattle on me to our homeroom teacher or I might not get to play at recess.

          • MTG fan

I can’t believe you didn’t realize that you didn’t realize that you were annoying because of your personality, not because of maindecking dispel.

          • Zombie

I can’t believe that you people don’t realize your bandwagoning circlejerking is just as annoying but on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Hurr someone said something rude on the internet, I want a safe space reeeeeeee

      • Daniel Kaine Allen

Hate to break it to you but not everu card can be a game changer, otherwise there wouldn’t be a seconddary market because there wouldn’t be any money in it. We’ve already gotten a decent share of good cards. Everything on top of what we get now is just icing.

        • Daniel Kaine Allen

Sorry, accidentally replied to the wrong person.

          • MTG fan

I’m pretty sure everyone has made that mistake before. Don’t beat yourself over this. I’m glad we all just agree that all cards can’t be good–except @Zombie.

          • Zombie

I can agree that all cards can’t be good, then good cards wouldn’t be good. That’s never been my point.

My goal is to get people to stop their little choo choo hype trains and actually realize what cards are good, bad, and why.

And to get them to stop playing bad cards so they can improve at the game.

If you wanna play garbage cards, fine. Not gonna stop me from calling them garbage and telling you they’re garbage.

I just choose to do it all in a cynical tone because it’s fun.

And your little toddler round up isn’t gonna change it.

          • NothingSpecial

No one is saying they’re gonna play this card. But it’s an uncommon, there’s no reason to hate on it as much as you were with your opening comment.

          • Zombie

Uncommon rarity isn’t an excuse. Plenty of uncommons see Modern play at least.

Non-rares shouldn’t just be useless wastes of design space like this.

      • Zombie

Here I am, doing literally the same thing I’ve always been doing, and now some fruitbat comes along to white-knight against the Big Bad Zombie, because someone playing the antagonistic shtick on the internet triggered them.

  • Nathanael Lambert

reminds me of orb of warding

that card is much better imho

  • name moniker

    cat lady counter?

  • Insight66

    We George Romero, now

  • Happy The Cat

it’s like Hedron-Field Purists… but but not as fun.. or as open to cloning shenanigans…
it IS an uncommon though, so it could be worse. like if it’s main targets (i.e burn) had been so nerfed to the point of being a joke.

  • Pier-Luc Tremblay

If this is the best protection Hekma can offer, I think I will pass.

    • Necrachilles

If you look closely, there’s a bowl of condoms in the art.

  • Nanya

Could you combine this with the Ajani emblem that prevents all but 1 damage and then use this to prevent that 1 damage?

    • Daniel Kaine Allen

I believe so since you could have the ajani emblem resolve first. But I’m no mtg judge.

      • Necrachilles

It’s the same as Gisela, the person receiving the damage decides which effects are applied first.

    • Winter Trabex

The Emblem and this enchantment would both put triggered abilities on the stack. If Ajani goes first, all but one damage is prevented. Then this enchantment goes next, and you prevent the one damage left- making it impossible for any opponent to deal damage to you at all. But, if you wanted, you could still Banefire yourself for 20 and take 1.

      • Necrachilles

Banefire would be full damage, no matter who used it, at X>4.

      • Nanya

Thought so (in regards to both)

So, yay! Minimal use for emblem is awesome!

      • Tolle

That is not true. Both create replacement effects, not triggered abilities. And as the affected player you get to stack the effect of the replacements. The end result is the same but just wanted to point out they aren’t triggers.

  • Michael Pepin

This might be good in limited…. maybe.
That being said, I love the artwork.

    • Aaron Hooker

I would be happy getting a foil in limited..

  • kmk888

It could have been 4 mana and been unplayable. At 3 though it would have been a bit cancerous in multiples. It looks like a sideboard card for something specific that they priced to ensure it wouldn’t be maindeckable

    • Zombie

Look on the bright side, at least it’s better than Urza’s Armor.

Though both make me vomit just as much.

      • Thomas Luffman

Tell that to whoever the mono U stall player that uses urza’s armor is.

        • Necrachilles

          Orbs of Warding says “Hi”

        • Zombie

I got cancer just from reading that

          • Thomas Luffman

So we only have to listen to this for a few more years? Great!

          • Zombie

Luckily, salty people getting triggered is my chemo

      • Lord Gonti Of The Orzov Networ

How is urzas armor a rare. Altho, it is old. I remember when i got two vizzerdrixes (8th) and thought it was a mistake.

        • Zombie

Most old rares used to be either really busted or horrid trash.

Seems like we’re returning to those days again with minimal middle ground.

    • NothingSpecial

Hey, it’s uncommon for a reason. They’re not pushing it.

  • WEW

Wouldn’t this technically stop the saheeli-felidar combo by preventing 1 damage for each felidar guardian (because they are all a different source)? Even if it would, authority of the consuls is still a better enchantment to stop the combo and has more applications.

    • lol

I think it would but as you said it is still worse than other hate cards.

  • foxboy1000

You guys are late on the black god!

  • What!

Looks like a minecraft chunk loading error.

  • Aaron Hooker

Late game protection from cat combo.

  • KÖLLEWOOD (MOBIL)

Nice Flavor, good for splashing white during draft and even good for “kitchentable”magicplayers
