• Dr. Burn Crow

Oh I’m hoping for a whole cycle of Quicksmiths. I like how this plays.

    • Edwin Marín Castro

      That’s for sure.

    • Hedronal

Maybe it’s a full minor mechanic in the set. It fits with both UR artifice and WU etb abilities.

    • Bearman7775

I want a full cycle, just to see what they will do with a black one. But especially the green one. I really want the green one to be like a mana dork that makes the artifact into a guided lotus.

    • Insight66

More Quicksmiths would be rad, but I feel like who they are really belongs in the Izzet wheelhouse

  • Nanya

    That’s interesting.
    OH! Awesome!
Use it with Howling Mine, then your opponents never get to draw extra!

    • Marvin Sürig

      Pila-Pala and draw a card for 1 :D

      • ConDucktor Whirl Crate God

Throw in Grand Architect and you got yourself an infinite Draw/Mana combo. Combine that with Niv Mzzet or even Sphinx’s Tutelage….Shit man the possibilities….

        • Marvin Sürig

And there all you guys have your RU Artifacts Commander Niv-Mizzet Artifacts Infinity.

          • ConDucktor Whirl Crate God

Lab maniac in case something goes wrong and throw in all the Discard to Draw spells with some Flashback…..I want to build this now.

          • Nanya

            Psychosis Crawler for maximum fun.

Everyone loses 1 life when you draw a card (save for you).

      • Tolle

What do you mean by Pila-Pala?

        • Nanya

          PIla-Pala is an artifact creature that’s a 1/1 for 2
2, untap, add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

Combine with Grand Architech, which has tap blue to make an artifact creature blue and then you tap an untapped blue creature to add 2 to your mana pool…

          Edit: It’s Pili-Pala

          • Tolle

            Ah okay. Thank you!

  • Kevan Kramer

This is the Wizards account spoiler….if they spoil cards like this to my email, I am glad I didn’t sign up.

    • Hedronal

Why? What do you lose for having the possibility of getting this, instead of the guarantee of nothing?

  • Jonathan

This gives more value to Panharmonicons. They copy the ability, but also are a prime target to put it on.

  • Gord

This has a lot of good combo potential (shout out to Howling Mine and Pila-Pala below) but its just so boring. The picture, the cost, the effect – I’m sure it’ll see play in a lot of commander decks and I know that I’m always going to ignore it longer than I should cause its too boring to worry about

  • Gerald Homme

I’ll pick Key to the City, tap it and draw a card, un-tap it pay two and draw a card. So much value!!!!

  • Shagoth

Think this is better than the red one. Usually it takes 4cmc for a 2/2 to cantrip. Though you have to build your deck differently, this can become a consistent draw engine for turns. Probably won’t, though. Maybe better than the red one but I still think this is limited only.

  • Tolle

I don’t like that this is rare. I don’t think it needs to be. If someone had a bunch of these in limited it wouldn’t be that broken. I think uncommon would have been better.

    • sansmyhands

The first time your opponent in a limited game plays this and you don’t have removal in hand you’ll realize why it’s rare.

      • Tolle

Yes. And if this didn’t require an artifact to work that didn’t need to tap for something else, and couldn’t be removed by either artifact or creature removal, you might have a point. But with the fact it needs those things and has multiple removal options to stop this, you’ll see why it shouldn’t be.

    • Melissa Juice

This should certainly be rare. Very powerful.

      • Tolle

        A. Rarity is not about power level but complexity.
        B. I disagree.

        • David Herrera

Rarity is largely for balancing drafts. Giving blue an uncommon that draws multiple cards consistently is asking for a wonky, imbalanced draft.

          • Tolle

Not necessarily because that card is so easily stopped. Every color can stop it in multiple ways. The problem is, even in draft, it is likely to net you only 1 card. So it wouldn’t imbalance a draft. Also, I am talking about the cycle, not just this one card.

  • Brian Schmidt

Howling Mine, Quicksmith Spy, Quicksmith Spy, Howling Mine. You two will get along just fine in EDH.

    • Vizzerdrix

That’s awesome ! Forgot about cards like this and I want to say winter orb has a tapped clause as well? I all ready liked the card but now it’s more useful

      • Bostorket

        Opposition Smhopposition

    • struck21

      Winter Orb?

  • Blahblahblahbla

    Oh baby….. Saucy..

  • Blahblahblahbla

I just want to target Staff of Domination with this one time…

  • chad

    • Nanya

      NONE AT ALL!

      • chad

      • William Powell

        Sounds legit I believe ’em!

    • ConDucktor Whirl Crate God

  • Arcus Diabolus

I’m just gonna wait for those guys who put this with a clue token. Even better if that clue token was forced on them by a declaration in stone.

  • Pandancules

Not game breaking but goes well with inventors goggles

  • Happy The Cat

I’m probably going to get a copy to test in my tomorrow edh but honestly this doesn’t seem that good. unless there is next to no blue draw effects and a good deal of enchantment-like utility artifacts that dont need to tap this probably will end up a draft rare. There are loop shenanigans you can do outside of standard that gives it life so foils might be worth something?
if it had 4 toughness to survive more things it would have been a massive buff. 3 toughness seems to be on par with removal to get value.

  • JP

Silly, but by no means broken. Obviously choose an artifact that has an untap ability to generate more cantrip. Unwinding Clock also works well. I will put this into my ‘Pili-Pala’ combo deck after. Though I’ve never been much of a fan of anything with a ‘Soulbond’-esk drawback.

  • Taylor Foley

So if i play two of these dudes, each picking a different artifact, and one dies, do both artifacts keep the “Tap; Draw a card” text? Or does it tie to the specific Quicksmith Spy?
