Seems like some pretty pushed creatures in this set, especially the dinos, or is it just me?

    • Kitnz

Well if they weren’t “pushed,” folks would be complaining that dinos aren’t powerful enough. So no, I don’t think they’re pushed. The dinos are just actually viable as a tribe after a single set.

      • MrAptronym

It feels like you seem to think I am complaining about the power or saying something about power creep or something. I basically mean what you said, these cards look great and Dinos are looking viable.

        • Kitnz

Heh, you’re right. I hate the internet and it’s lack of tone/context. Please pardon my misinterpretation.

          • MrAptronym

No problem, this happens all the time. I just wanted to make it clear I wasn’t complaining.

    • Aaron Hooker

Pushed also with a good/ unusual ability. Not too powerful, but there to fix something.

  • xxxx

That’s a somewhat playable card. Too bad that it dies to bolt … maybe it sees a little play in burn sideboards or in some kind of zoo lists.
It works really well with stp or against grisldad.
Not the best card ever but strong effects, decent body and evasive. I can see myself building some janky eternal brews with that.

    • ymmij X

every creature burn plays dies to every removal card in modern.

      • Which is why burn generally doesn’t play creatures with CMC greater than 2.

    • Shagoth

What soul sisters variants play bolt?

  • Tolle

I love everything about this card. I want 12

  • NC

    Eat those vampires

  • Edwin Marín Castro

It is kind of balanced, if you play dinos you have to play fewer creatures than those who play only small guys.

  • ymmij X

    ha screw you soul sisters!

  • galen150

well, if someone in your LGS plays aetherflux, or people play a lot of vamps, you could sideboard this. not great otherwise.

  • Justus Bruestle

This is a side board card. There are a lot of decks that have no life gaining ability, so I don’t see a reason to use it as a main, but if they show up with a super life gainy deck you swap this in and they’re screwed lol.

    • Happy The Cat

it also punishes go wide decks that enjoy servo tokens. For example your Angel of Invention will lava spike you if you go wide. not to mention it shuts down lifelink, which comes up pretty often.

  • Deadly Berry

Every time I see a “Can’t gain life” effect I think of Grove of the Burnwillows. This dino is nice, with reasonable CMC.

    • ymmij X

reasonable? this is super cheap in standard.

  • Happy The Cat

rub+ combo deck idea: this,Hunted Phantasm, and flicker then follow up with some when a “creature an opponent dies” effects and shrivel or some other small boardwipe to speed up your kill.

    • Chaospyke

This Akroan Horse, and steal back horse.

Or harmless gift an awakening zone.

      • Happy The Cat

that’s a bit slow imo, Hunted Phantasm pops out five tokens at once, making Cloudshift into lava axe followed by Massacre Wurm who’s now a sniper rifle.

    • guest

That seems sweet. Don’t forget the Forbidden Orchard. And maybe Genesis Chamber.

  • Kyle Kinnear

1 or 2 of in Modern burn sideboard.

  • Krhaynes1

I wonder if this will lead a possible unbanning of felidar guardian. Probably not but it’s a good hate card for it.

  • Mack Tackleton

When will wizards ever make my red card. 2/2 haste 2 of anything one red. Annihilator 1. I keep writing wizards but I get no response.
