seems like a weak card (best case it techs against go wide aggro decks…i guess?)

    • Bobit

It’s a 3 mana 3/2 dino, and the deck needed some help with that. EDIT: Also common, might see pauper play as a mini-Finks?

      • ymmij X

As i see it the dino deck wants to spend turn 2 or 3 ramping and starts its curve at ripjaw ideally turn 3

        • Bobit

Don’t think so, too vulnerable to removal.

          • ymmij X

            What is? Mana dorks? Ripjaw?

          • Bobit

Small number of creatures, especially dinosaurs. But I’m not so sure anymore.

          • Shagoth

            Like bolt or burn?
            That would backfire…
            Doomblade/terror? Kills almost everything anyways,

          • Bobit

Ripjaw is a good card, but “big creatures only” strategies are risky.

          • ymmij X

well we have an uncounterable hexproof dino for control matchups and the pterodactyl for agro which is a 3 drop. it’s not all big stuff also if we have a dino one of our mana dorks is a 2 mana 3/3.

          • ymmij X

none of that is standard legal. the only standard legal removal that is currently played and isn’t rotating that can deal with ripjaw is a revolted fatal push. we will have to see if walk the plank gets picked up but most removal right now is 2-3 damage stuff and double bolting a ripjaw is about the stupidest thing you could do

          • Shagoth

I thought you were referring to the pauper comment, whoops.

    • ymmij X

No it’s just draft chaf. It’ll trade alright and gain you a bit of life but it’s by no means “good”

      • Dr. Gitrog Crow

Ya, if it was 2/3 (or preferably 2/4 with lightning strike in the format) it’d be pretty good against red decks. But as is it’ll be fine in limited as well as filler for Gishath EDH till we get more good dinos

        • ymmij X

They are erattaing a bunch of old beasts to dinosaur. This will probably still make the cut for edh though. 6odd cards is so many for a new tribe

    • Alex

Probably not great in constructed (but still a relevant tribe) but a solid mid-to-late pick in limited formats.

  • Happy The Cat

aand this is the card you add so all the Pyrohemia combos can go off and not kill you too quickly.
