  • Lord Gonti Of The Orzov Networ

    THIS LOOKS ACTUALLY GOOD!

  • Cthulhooo

What the hell, green invocations somehow don’t look terrible.

    • Kitnz

Agreed. It’s a shame green is the least represented of the bunch. This is just… pretty. This card has the earthy quality we needed.

    • Zombie

Baby poop green on that awful border?

      *Vomiting intensifies*

  • Aubrey Clements

green looks the best in amonkhet apparently

  • Hedronal

Art size actually works here, weird.

    • eltratzo

I think it has to do with the perspective. this one really sells the “window” aesthetic.

  • Aarhg

This really does look cool. Almost makes me want to make a commander deck with him.

I really really like this card. this shows the potential of the invocations. a rather large rhonas that is still imposing even in the smaller than usual artwork combined with the slightly slanted perspective and the composition of very bright colours up top and farther away from us to a rather shadowy foreground works in concert with the frame to sell the idea of it being a window to the plane. the fact that it is cut of slightly above grund level further enhances that effect.

I feel like this should be the standard to judge the invocations on. a common complaint on the others was that the gorgeous art was wasted due to it being so small. here I think frame and art enhance each other. ideally that should be the case for all masterpieces. art and frame don’t have to fight for space on the card. they can work in conjunction.
And the frame design should’t just be fancy for the sake of being fancy it should enhance the artwork. and while this shows that the invocation frame can do that, on too many cards and for too many people it doesn’t. which is a shame.

this one could be something to build on. not just for the HoD invocations but for future masterpieces as well
