This is a question I’ve had since origins, why the heck did the flowstone mechanic float from red to blue? That makes no sense!

    • ymmij X

it’s more useful in blue since it has better evasion and was only in red for flavor reasons

    • Fred “Deakon” Rebhun

Red already has “fire breathing” and it makes sense to me that blue couldn’t just make itself stronger with out adjusting in other areas.

      • Hedronal

And because Red has the better version, it can still get the worse version if designers want that for some reason, like how black can unconditionally destroy creatures but sometimes gets something like Murderous Compulsion.

well blue has ocasionally had it since morphling from urza block. and shifting body mass around, restructuring yourself to be optimal for any given task seems a very blue thing to do.

      • Shagoth

I didn’t think about that, nor did I think about Superman.

        • eltratzo

to be fair superman and most other older blue cards with this effect tend to have it in both directions, fitting the adaptation flavour even better.

The real question, why does this card say you have to discard to Eternalize? None of the other eternalize cards say that…

    • eltratzo

because the decided it was an appropriate cost here. with the eternalize costing 5 it is amongst the cheaper eternalizers.

    • It just has a different cost here than on other Eternalize cards. Regenerate and other keyword abilities do the same thing; very few keywords actually have strict costs as PART of their description, and in fact Extort is the only one I know of off the top of my head. Morph I guess; though the cost to unmorph a creature is always different.

      • Hedronal

        Investigate too, technically.

  • LetsGetReal

I didnt even see the discard so i thought i will lose a lot to this card since i thought it was rather weak. But damn with the discard this is just borderline unplayable.

It is actually insanely interesting with how much flexibility if has. I mean,, eternalized it can pump to a 7/1 even for just UUU

  • This is one of the most interesting uses of Eternalize actually; the nature of that ability makes it so much more powerful as a 4/4 than a 2/2, allowing it to become a 7/1 instead of just a 3/1 if needed.

    Naga looks like they’re shrugging.

“Whaaaat? I’m not doin’ anything!” xD
