      Better question, why does this card not specify “can’t be countered by spells of abilities”. How are these two wordings different?

        Ok, I get the wording now. If a card specifies a target, then the new wording will be used to be clear that game rules will still counter the spell if the target becomes illegal, otherwise they can still print the old wording.

      Blue hate… in this case though it is blue. 

      Honestly I dont believe it is for this format, since there doesnt seem to be any counterspells.. basically… at all. For older formats they are just destroying the ability to use instant speed control altogether

         We can’t really say there aren’t any counter-spells yet. First off we already have Syncopate, and we still don’t even have half the cards in the set.

    Can’t be countered will be irrelevant in most match-ups but game changing against tempo. With merfolk and delver variants doing well lately, this seems tailor fit for hard control in what is traditionally a bad match-up. Probably won’t be run in miracles but I’m sure stone/caw-blade and gifts are loving it.
