• Junior Crusher

    What does it say?

    • Aurore

The first part is scry 3 I’m pretty sure. The second part is reveal the top card of your library, and if it’s a creature do something (not done translating)

    • Gregory Walter

      It says “Reason // Fight”.

  • Tyler Scott

The blue half is scry 3. The green half says look at the top card of your library. If it’s a creature card, reveal it and put it into the battlefield. Otherwise, put it into your hand.

  • Darius Chiang

    (U)
    Scry 3
    (4)(G)
    Afterpath

    • Aurore

      That’s what i thought, awesome.

    • Shagoth

Wow, so Aetherworks Marvel’s ban didn’t do that much good, this might better in some ways in fact, it can dig for more stuff prior to the spell and this really only dies to counters.

      • Mark Pilzer

        Hmm… Afterpath…

      • NC

This doesn’t cast Ulamog – no exile – and can’t plop Chandra into play against Zombies.

        • Shagoth

          Rent those both rotating anyways?

          • NC

            Not until Ixalan

      • eltratzo

how exactly does scry 3 and then reveal 1 equal digging deeper than marvels 6? or, if you meant digging with other cards which ones in standard were you thinking about? also: 6 mana; non repeatable in case of a whiff. (and marvel did whiff. beeing able to dig repeatedly really added to consistency); far narrower range of targets; no cast triggers from the creature you hit.
without setup this can easily be 6 mana scry 3 draw one. (hitting4 noncreatures isnt that rare in most decks).

not saying this card can’t be very strong. but saying it invalidates the marvel ban by just 1 to 1 replacing it does feel like hyperbole.

        • Shagoth

It’s not as good as marvel, no, but one thing about the digging is that it’s so many turns apart that you can probably dig in the meantime with Glimmer of Genius to make it more consistent, like in the original Marvel decks.

  • Shagoth

One blue, and a three. I’m scared.
It’s probably scry 3, in all seriousness, though, which will obviously have some synergy with the green spell. I like these aftermath cards more, they feel like rare and they’re unique.

  • Shawn Michael Diaz

Not gonna lie, wish it was Scry 4. Mystic Speculation could be spammed and while this has upside too, it’s janky build-around upside.

    • Shawn Michael Diaz

But at the same time this feels a lot like janky UG ramp marvel so that’s kind of cool. I was pretty glad when they didn’t ban Ulamog because I thought something interesting could come out of UG ramp Ulamog.

  • Jacob Kodicovic

According to Google Translate, this card’s name is Snek//Snekkier

  • Gregory Walter

    It says “Reason to Fight”.

  • Murilo Mazza

    0.10 USD

  • Arcus Diabolus

    This is pretty neat.

  • Ja Ja ja

    So……turn 4 Ulmanog continues :D

    • Grant Jacobson

      turn 5?

      • Spyboy

        ramp

    • Kevin Johnstone

Ulamog is an on cast… who cares if they plop it into play turn 4 and pass the turn.

Do you know how many threats exile, bounce, or disallow attacking/blocking right now?

      Plenty.

Sick of whiny standard players… there never used to be ANY bans. The new standard format is a pile of garbage from all the bans and wasted money.

      • Jacob Kodicovic

I’m sick of whiny Magic players. It seems like people just complain about one thing and ignore the rest. Magic is a multi-million dollar game, story comprehension is at an all-time high, and the player base is continuously growing.

I do see where you’re coming from, but I feel Standard will be much healthier when BFZ and SOI (and the Eldrazi) rotate out.

    • Random Guy

This is marvel except 6 mana, no energy, not an artifact, you only get one spin, etc.

  • Blahblahblahbla

Too many fun non-creature cards to put into Maelstrom Wanderer EDH these days. Every new set i feel like i have to sit with that deck splayed out in front of me for an hour trying to jam new stuff into it. :p This set seems to be no exception.

    • Solomon Somers

I know the feeling. But I’ve brewing a Rashmi “cast free stuff” deck with a bunch of ramp, topdeck manipulation, counterspells, and mean cards like Vorinclex, Void Winnower, amd Jin Gitaxias. I find that it’s a good place to put a lot of the cards that I want to put in Maelstrom Wanderer that I can’t find a place for. I have discovered that my favorite kind of edh deck is “cast random free stuff tribal”

  • Aurore

So… is this the first time a split card has used the same name on one of the halves twice and the halves have been different cards? Since this is Reason // Fight along with Prepare // Fight.

    • codetaku

The english name probably won’t be Fight. It’s a different word in Japanese as Prepare // Fight had, it’s just that it has a very similar meaning.

      • Aurore

Yup. I know japanese so I know it’s different, just don’t know if the translation from below was official or not. If it isn’t, then I’m assuming it’ll be different.

      • Shagoth

Prepare // Battle sounds more accurate.

      • Gregory Walter

        It says “Reason // Fight.”

        • Aurore

          Nope.

    • NC

      you just gotta believe
