Umm…. so it’s an 8/8 for 5 mana with trample? That’s pretty incredible. And you can opt to share some of that power with your other creatures? Even more incredible.

    • Necrachilles

      PRetty nuts

    • DirtyHoboLord

It goes on to continue Wolfir Silverheart’s legacy.

  • Randall Chevalier

This is amazing and very likely OP in standard when you can eldritch evolution into this by turn 3. It is huge and it can make something else huge leaving the counters on something else just in case you think your opponent has removal. I might even throw this into rg in modern.

  • Happy The Cat

well, that’s big, mimic vat or conjurer’s closet would love to get there hands on ths.

  • Shagoth

Very powerful, but I know people will get irritated when I say this, I don’t think it should be a mythic. I mean, it’s a big beater that makes other stuff (or itself) bigger. If this creature that feels uncommon is mythic due to limited, I don’t think it should have been printed at all, maybe it’s too powerful, because this mana curve to creature power is getting absolutely demolished. (still won’t be too tough for standard, thanks to how seemingly no matter how big a creature is for 5 mana it’s not too tough)

    • Mov

It’s not uncommon power level. It’s a 5 drop that pumps the team permanently, so even if it doesn’t survive to attack you are still getting at least 2 counters on creatures AND they’ve had to use a removal spell to get rid of the 4-6 p/t trampler coming at them. No way this is uncommon.

      • Shagoth

My point was that it’s too powerful to be an uncommon but too bland to be a mythic. I know it’s mythic due to power level, and that’s what I was complaining about. This is a bland and uncommon level effect, except that they made it way cheaper. This is the Grim Flayer of the set, bland, super powerful, and a very cheap move on Wizard’s part to make an obviously powerful card that any newbie at the game can use and win without thinking very much.

        • Mov

That makes more sense. And hard to argue with. Will have to see the rest of the set (ie the removal and the sweepers) to know if it’s just stupidly powerful. But as things stand it seems like you’re right that this will be an effect that goes as the topper to every creature deck that can run g, and that’ll get pretty boring pretty quickly…

  • Ryū

    How violent. Good.

  • kasigah

    Colored artifacts… Are… BAAAAAAAAAAAACK

  • Avery Standley

I’d like an 8/8 with trample for 5!

  • Disciple of MTG

    Ridiculous with Animar, Equilibrium

  • Stinker289

Do we have enough blink right now to warrant this being mythic?

    • De’Elgathor

It’s mythic for limited. An 8/8 trampler for 5 in a set that will be intentionally a little low on artifact removal would wreak limited games far too often. I believe it is also part of a cycle, so one of the other ones may be pulling the rarities up on the others.

  • Fábio Rodrigues Carvalho

So everyone reading PUT instead of DISTRIBUTE?!

    • Mr.Mayhem631

Everyone sees that it says distribute, but that’s nothing new.

      • Fábio Rodrigues Carvalho

I just saw many people thinking this is a 8/8 creature by himself..

        • Mr.Mayhem631

          And those people are correct.

          • Fábio Rodrigues Carvalho

Yeah yeah sorry. I’m thinking about other thing. They ‘re all right. Forget my post! ;D

        • Happy The Cat

it kinda is, exept half of it’s p/t is mobile.

  • Jean-Luc Picard

Can this out all the counters on itself? Has it actually entered the battlefield before the counters start going out? I am no judge, does anyone know?

    • BusinessmanGinger

It enters the battlefield so yes the counters can be put on itself. Another combo to do that would be interesting is to have it enter, distribute the counters on other creatures, blink/bounce it have it enter again, rinse, dry repeat etc.

  • Mr.Mayhem631

It’s really bland. Don’t get me wrong, it’s also super strong and will win games, but what a dull effect.

    • Derek Niles

I know and the art is amazing too, kind of a shame really

    • Melissa Juice

As a dedicated Timmy, I love dull/bland effects. This makes me happy.

  • Pablo

Or get this + Cultivator of Blades to make it a 7/7 that gives +7+7 to all creatures every time it attacks, right?

  • Zombie

    This… is kinda busted…

An 8/8 Trample for 5 in Standard is completely ridiculous…

    • Happy The Cat

as a mythic, not really, what it amounts to is just an 8/8 french vanilla beat stick. unless we get some flicker, cloning or bouncing shenanigans to make that etb fire as many times as possible it looks like another pofulwer green card from the good old days

      • Mr.Mayhem631

Except the ability is hugely versatile. It can also be an anthem, or make your two defenders big.

    • DirtyHoboLord

Wolfir Silverheart and Kolonian Hydra were both comparable to this (granted they serve somewhat different overall purposes) and they showed up in standard before. It’s not necessarily the first time WoTC has done this with green.

      • Zombie

Wolfir Silverheart needed another creature to function at peak capacity with Soulbond, Kalonian Hydra took several turns to get going and entered play as a 4/4 that could easily be killed by burn.

This can just enter play on turn 3-4 in Green as an 8/8 with Trample by itself.

        That’s a bit ludicrous.

        • DirtyHoboLord

Why I specified that they are comparable but different. They each have the same cost and each swing for 8 on their first attack. Kalonian’s easier to kill at first but applies a potential bonus to other creatures and gets bigger the longer he stays alive. Silverheart applies more power but lacks the trample and can potentially be cancelled easier. This card is certainly initially harder to deal with because of his instant benefit that can’t be removed easily if spread apart but he isn’t as powerful as the other two if they stay on the board to swing. I think it balances out. This guy will likely hit a similar pricetag and will likely see play in the same strategies. I don’t think he breaks the meta or anything, he’s just a strong creature, something green needs a few more of right now.

        • Vixin Xiviir

At least it dies to Doom Blade.

  • Justin Young

Has no one thought about this in GB delirium? Buff Grim flayer for a 8/8 trample sensei divining top. Or throw it onto mind wracking for 8/9 flying. If this gets milled or discarded it’s 2 card types so extras are no problem. I think GB delirium will find a way to abuse this. As a matter of fact watch out for any strong artifact creature which there will be more.

  • Aarhg

It is kinda simple for a mythic, but it definitely has the power of one.

  • Daniel Rouze

    The meatiest robot.

  • Nelson Chandra

The great thing about this card isn’t just that it’s a 8/8 trample for 5, but that you can also spread out your investment on your other creatures and mitigate the effects of removal. Go ahead, doomblade the 4/4 trample but my 5/5 double strike fencing ace is frankly scarier. Play it with Arcbound ravager and your opponent won’t know which to kill. Ravager just gives his counters back to the Gearhulk, while if you kill the gearhulk it can just be sacrificed to the ravager. Brutal.

  • Kevin Johnstone

8/8 TRAMPLE for 5 mana?! omg, green getting some love! being able to spread the counters as you see fit….. even more love.

Best creature i’ve seen at 5 for green in a really long time.

  • Jakob Schneider

8/8 trample for five mana that can also be flickered to give another creature a permanent +4/+4 boost via counters.

    Looks like we found this set’s curve-breaking “It’s okay, I’m a Mythic!”-Mythic…

  • Melissa Juice

    Hot damn. Fantastic card.

  • Chris

Kind of like a weird cross between a Kalonian Hydra and Cytoplast Root-kin. Not sure this is a mythic, but I appreciate the versatility and raw power. Constructed playable.

    • Reyos Blackwood

It’s an 8/8 trample for 5 since you can give every counter to himself. Or perhaps a flicker target to boost others every time it comes in, it’s definitely mythic. Not to mention with the white pseudo cataclysm/tragic arrogance gearhulk it starts a mythic cycle.

  • Phoenix UNBENCHED

It’s a huge, versatile, delirium-fueling machine. I’m in love. Mobile Suit Jund ‘Em, anyone?

  • Jaya

    This is op.

  • DapperWisp

I need these just to spam “exile then return to field” effects… Counters… For… Days…

  • Tenrou_Hibachi

    OMG! ….
    It’s a 8/8 for 5. And it has TRAMPLE.
    Whaaaat the f****. OMG.
Is balance a thing? No? Okay, apparently not. Getting this.
