    Seems good

  • TogetherAlone

woah, weird. You have to blind pick 3 but get a very well costed demon. How good this is will probably depend on the sets removal suite.

    • EddieDeanofIgnorance

Among my playgroup, I expect this to be left as the last card in a pack so that somebody gets forced into doing three blind picks for the next booster. There are only three people who would likely take it as a calculated risk, and two of them have been absent from FNMs and whatnot for about a month now (I’m the third, and I honestly find the prospect of using it as a draft-bound attack interesting).

  • Shagoth

Fourth-wall breaking demon. It legitimately has no downside in the games themselves.

    • Shagoth

Also didn’t think about this but it is 5/4 for 4 with no downside in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. It’s going to be interesting putting this in commander.

      • Happy The Cat

we already have a lot bigger demons that cost about the same but it will do good as poor-mans copy. plus watermarked and alt bordered cards usually look pretty good in foil

        • Shagoth

Not saying it’s great, just interesting implications. Probably great filler card for some demon decks in the format. Though thinking about the drafting implications, it’s draw back is WAY too harsh. From what I understand, you don’t even need to pick it for the draft drawback. I’m not sure if that is how draft works given I’ve only drafted once, but if it is, it’s the worst card to ever draft ever. At least with Wood Elementals, it’s only bad if you put it in your deck.

          • Mr.Mayhem631

            Wood Elementals is worse.
This thing is really bad to pick early in the pack, but late in the opack it’s so so good.

          • Shagoth

Yeah, Wood Elemental is worse, you’re right. But it sounds super obnoxious to get disadvantages while drafting.

          • Guest

How much of a disadvantage this is needs to be considered and taken into account. Taking it first or second (or even third) pick in pack one wouldn’t be great, but taking it later in the pack would be okay if you’ve already taken some other black and by then you’ve seen a bit of the things in the draft. Taking this pack 2 or 3, depending on how the draft has gone for you to that point, could be done at pretty much any point of the pack rotation. Like if you get to a point where you’ve got majority playable on colour cards early in pack 2 or 3 then you can take it without too much worry about being able to get there in terms of filling out your pool/deck with playables.

          • Tyler Wilson

You do have to pick it for the drawback to trigger. “Drafting” a card is picking it from the pack.

In the ideal world this is picked 4th to last or even later, but realistically it’s a solid pick four or pick five.

          • Shagoth

Thanks for the clarification. I do not know drafting well and obviously you do for this set. In the past, I thought of it more as “simply pick cards from packs past to you and make a deck”

        • Fcmalw

As far as I can tell their are only 3 flying demon 4 drops that are better than this card only 1 of which is mono black if we count 5 drops and non demons this card is hardly the best but in mono black demon edh deck it’s hard to beat.

  • Happy The Cat

who doesnt enjoy a good ole game of demon chicken? might be the worst rare of all time to open pack 1 however.

    • ashton

Let it be the last card drafted and steal someone’s foil mythic because they’re picking randoms

      • Happy The Cat

probably not going to happen, around 3-5 cards in this seems like a really great deal. even pack one when you dont really have a deck yet picking this up probably wont hurt you as bad. a four mana 5/4 flyer is a pretty good reason to go into black, especially if there isnt much flying in the set.

  • Hedronal

I’m glad my store redrafts rares.

I also hope that someone, somewhere randomly drafts another one thanks to the first.

  • Rovkir Hexus

I know this is designed for a draft, but outside of draft, it’s not bad.

  • Chaospyke

How does this work with if I’ve drafted another card that says “reveal next creature card you draft” etc.

Do I reveal it or what?
