Flying When Foe-Razer Regent enters the battlefield, you may have it fight target creature you don’t control. Whenever a creature you control fights, put two +1/+1 counters on it at the beginning of the next end step.

  • Lorcogoth

this seems powerfull practicly a 6/7 creature with a deal 4 damage kind of) for 7 mana

  • Djough Smytthe

This kinda confirms my suspicion that Deathbringer Dragonlord isn’t part of the cycle because of the whole vertical mana cost thing.

    • Lorcogoth

also he is called “dragonlord” and there are only 5 dragonlords so iguess there is a miss translation somewhere in that card

    • Djough Smytthe

Nevermind I read the article and now feel like an idiot.

  • Owen Huisman

So does this deal 6 damage when it enters the battlefield or does it deal 4 damage? Which triggers/resolves first? Either way, will be running this in my Gruul Dragons.

    • YetAnotherGuest

It deals 4 damage, it only gets the counter at the beggining of the next end step.

      • Owen Huisman

Oh im an idiot, didnt read the last part haha.

  • James Sweet

So wait, the second ability… Does “Creature fights” also include ordinary combat, or is it only for Hunt the Weak style effects like this guy’s first ability? I’m assuming the former (otherwise that ability sucks), but this is phraseology I have not seen on a Magic card before.

    • Only when things “Fight”.
Creatures don’t “Fight” during combat, but “Fighting” is very similar to combat,
Fight says: Target creature deals damage equal to its power to another target creature. That creature deals damage equal to its power to the first creature.

      • James Sweet

So to be clear: The 2nd ability only triggers when this card is played, or Hunt the Weak or other similar effects are played? That seems kinda weak..

        • At first glance, yes.
But you have to imagine this during a game: You wouldn’t want to fight anything that you creature can’t kill right off the bat, so you play this guy, have him kill some 3/3 something, and then at the end of turn he get 2 +1/+1 counters and is now a 6/7, then you can play Hunt the Weak on him, kill your opponents 5/5 dragon, and then at the end of turn he becomes a 8/9

          • Batu

frontier siege and this guy triggers twice right ?

jund dragon tribal in standart… just saying

          • Kameenook

Play Crucible of Fire/Obelisk of Urd to be sure you can utilize both fight triggers successfully.

          • Jody Williams

While that counter off hunt the weak would be awesome, I think I’d rather just Savage Punch and let his 4 power do the heavy lifting into +2/+2 land for the turn and still get counters for it.

        • Kahai

Only if this is the only instance of ‘fight’ in the block/rotation.

We are currently sitting at 10 cards in standard that ‘fight’.

          Pretty significant.

          • James Sweet

Oh yeah, I forgot about Frontier Siege… and apparently a whole bunch of other cards, heh. Maybe better than I thought.

Is this the first card that triggers on a “fight” ability other than its own? I just did a Gatherer search, but I haven’t gone through the whole list yet…

          • James Sweet

Looks like it is the only card that triggers on “fight”… List on Gatherer was shorter than I thought, heh

          • Kahai

This is the first triggered ability on this action keyword.

        • kasigah

Yeah, but there are plenty of cards now with that effect. Plus with manifest still out there, Temur War Shaman works great with this.

        • Kahai

Hell, Frontier Siege alone in a r/g dragon deck would decimate!

          • Lorcogoth

would frontier siege stack with his effect? forcing him to fight 2 creatures?

          • Kahai

Neither Frontier Siege nor Foe-Razer Regent FORCE anyone to do anything.

Both fight abilities on those cards are MAY abilities. :D

  • Melissa Juice

    Greenish fire. Cool.

  • Kameenook

    FIGHT!FIGHT!FIGHT!

  • John Finkle

This ain’t no Gruul Ragebeast, but I like it none the less

  • Happy The Cat

so it is a seven mana 6/7 flyier that destroys target creature with power and toughness of 4 or less

  • Grant Ross

Um can we go back to the first art? That one looked better.
