• Kitnz

If it weren’t obvious already, it’s now clear that Ixalan is based on Central America. Chupacabra?! Alright!

    • ChupaTetas

That area its called Mesoamerica, from Mexico to Nicaragua (it includes Mayas and Aztecs). About Chupacabras, everybody knows what it is about but as far as I know nobody has ever found one (dead or alive)

  • ChupaTetas

I’m not sure if you guys will know what the chupacabra is

    • Communist_Bear

the name means “goat sucker” ; it used to be described as a reptile-like creature with spines on the back (which would have been awesome on a plane filled with dinosaurs btw) but is now represented as a kind of mostly hairless wild dog… Yeah, i used to like cryptozoology

  • Dr. Burn Crow

    Goats gonna get SUCKED.

  • Grant Jacobson

    -2/10 doesn’t drink goats blood :(

    • Dr. Gitrog Crow

Well if you have an opponent playing Trading posts…

  • Arturo

I’ll never understand why the word looses the “s” when translated to english… it should be “chupacabraS” :P

    • Hedronal

Some plurality thing? Probably not that sensical of a reason.

    • Communist_Bear

      undetermined plurial ? no “s”

      • Arturo

but it should be plural, because it prays upon many goats, not just a singular one

        • Communist_Bear

you only put the “s” for the plural form if there is an indication of the number. And “chupacabra” is name and doesn’t mean anything in english, so they’ll put the “s” if they’re speaking about many chupacabras.

          • Arturo

            one moose, many moose
            one chupacabras, many chupacabras

          • Communist_Bear

are you dumb or retard ? “Chupacabras” is the mexican name ; ” Chupacabra” is merely a translation in English. And btw it’s “many mice” not mouse…

          • Mr.Mayhem631

            Hey, play nice.

          • Arturo

ummm I was talking about moose, not mice… are you mixing them up?
And I know that in english they are called “chupacabra”, I just don’t understand why :P
Not all animals follow the pattern of dog – dogs, moose and mice being examples, so I’d guess chupacabras could be an exception to the rule as well… unless you wanted to translate it as “suckergoat” instead of “goatsucker”

    • Happy The Cat

chupacabras is a colloquial term, without an s it’s more literal Latin of goat sucker.

  • Sam McKay

Why is this not a Vampire Beast?!

    • chataolauj

      Cause vampires aren’t beasts?

      • Mr.Mayhem631

        Chupacabras drink blood.

        • chataolauj

Well, a vampire is typically known to be in the shape of a bat or human, so…..

          • Mr.Mayhem631

Magic has had multiple non-humanoid/non-batlike vampires, so it would not be a stretch.

    • Hedronal

Because even in a tribal block not everything is tribal?

  • Kameenook

    It’s a chupa-thingy

    • Guest

      Chupa tetas

  • chataolauj

    We need more explore cards.

  • Deadly Berry

What a waste of an awesome name, on a nigh useless card outside of limited.

    • Hedronal

Lets not give it too little credit, it can also help in niche casual. :P

      • Deadly Berry

That sounds like “ready to lose” casual mode to me.

        • Hedronal

          It’s casual, it’s meant to be near-degenerate or near-unusable.

    • Happy The Cat

inb4 they push explore like crazy and this becomes the Doomwake Giant of the block.

      • Deadly Berry

“Hey can I playtest my Explore deck with you?” Okay, I’m looking forward to hearing that.

        • Happy The Cat

Vehicles fit the role of Master of Waves decks aka the one they didn’t mean to make op but obviously didn’t playtest nearly enough and now way too high % of standard is slated towards beating them. that leaves Dinos or Treasure to replace Junk goodstuffs… both have power tempo into heavy late game control from what’s been spoiled… really it’s a toss up. loser gets inspired’s slot.

  • Happy The Cat

fun fact: there are 8 non token Goats in magic. this can’t kill two of them with just -2/-2.
Meanwhile half of them can kill this by attacking. and that’s not counting the goat sphinxes from last block like Unesh.
goat sucker? more like sucks against goats.

  • Fred Weasley

Haha this is my favorite Magic card just because it has Chupacabra in it!

  • Darkray Accel

Chupacabra? Did I read this right?

    • Jackson Means

      No no no, it’s chupacabra
